About me

Hello and welcome!

I believe that nothing is more important than the relationship between client and counsellor and therefore my main aim is to offer you a space where you feel comfortable and safe to be able to talk and work through your feelings. As a humanistic counsellor, I can offer you a space to talk through anything you wish without agenda, putting you at the centre of your counselling experience.

I found my way into counselling through a varied career which has enabled me to work with a wide range of people and see firsthand the complexities that people face within their personal lives. I have worked at HMP Winchester, supporting inmates serving their sentences by delivering courses to them. I have also worked at a large secondary school as part of their pastoral team, undertaking roles such as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Head of Year. On top of this I have also worked in theatres where I have delivered a range of projects within the community.

Working in these environments means I have had to function in a non-judgemental way, and this is something that I carry with me in my counselling sessions.

As well as having my own private practice, I currently work as a school counsellor with children and young people aged between 10-16. Alongside this, I also counsel young people aged 11-19 at a charity based in Eastleigh. Previously, I have counselled adults at The You Trust in Portsmouth.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
