About me

Hello, I'm Abigail, a BACP registered Counsellor practicing in Honley, Holmfirth.

As we go through life we can gather experiences and ideas about ourselves that are limiting and painful.

I offer therapeutic counselling to help you unpack some of the load you may be carrying right now, so you can move forward into a place of deeper connection with yourself, others and the world around you.

Reaching out for support takes courage and so whether or not we end up working together I am glad you are here, making that first brave step on your path towards the healing you’re looking for.

A bit about me

My practice centres around growing a relationship with my clients that is built on the foundational qualities of being non-judgmental, real, honest, empathic, curious, trusting, and the importance of demonstrating unconditional acceptance of all of your experience and it’s impact in your life.

From this safe, confidential relationship you can explore whatever has brought you here today, whether that is work related stress, loss, anxiety, illness, suicidal ideation, abuse, unresolved childhood trauma or feeling lost. Through exploring your feelings and unique experiences you can step towards processing, accepting and healing.

We can work face to face in our tranquil practice space in Honley, Holmfirth. Which is a convenient distance from Huddersfield, Wakefield, Halifax, Sheffield, Oldham, Leeds, Dewsbury, Bradford and Manchester. I also offer remote counselling sessions on zoom for those who are further afield, or find the idea of face to face too much.

I work to a time frame that is best fit for my individual clients, including both short and long-term work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
