About me

  • I'm a Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Supervisor with over 30 year's experience supporting people in crisis.
  • I work with individuals, couples, families and organisations.
  • I specialise in Addiction, Anger-management,  Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Generalised anxiety and panic disorder, Infertility, Marriage and Relationship Counselling, Neuro-diversity (ADHD and Autism) and Stress
  • Sessions are Face to Face,  on Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, or telephone.
  • I offer a free, no obligation, 15-minute telephone or video consultation to help you decide whether I'm the right counsellor for you.

I also run a counselling agency that offers reduced fee sessions with qualified counsellors.  Please contact me for details.

Maybe you are feeling depressed or suffering from general anxiety. Perhaps your relationship is in trouble? Maybe you are experiencing difficulties at work or struggling with a bereavement? Whatever the reason, counselling can help.

Maybe you have recently been diagnosed with ADHD or ASD or suspect you may be neuro-divergent and would like to talk that through?

I provide a non-judgemental space where you can learn about your patterns of behaviour and your feelings.  If you are looking for someone caring, knowledgeable and committed to helping you, call me on 01707 707957 or 07508 934271. You can also book an appointment here: calendly.com/angie-herts-counselling including a free 15 minute consultation.

I also work with people insured with AXA, AVIVA, CIGNA, TEAM VERICO, VITALITY and other companies and charities. Please ask for details.

Although I am not able to diagnose neuro-diversity, I do see many clients with ADHD, ODD and Autism and I am often able to spot signs of possible neuro-diversity.

I'm also a qualified, independent Funeral Celebrant covering services in Herts, Beds, Bucks and North London.

Here are a selection of my reviews taken from Freeindex where they are verified as genuine.

"When I found Angie online I wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't gone to therapy in about 10 years and wasn't sure how long I would need the therapy, how we would get on etc. I really needed someone who didn't know me to just listen and not judge and I am so glad I found her."

"Angie helped me through some of my past and relationships with family, work etc and allowed me to work out what I was going through and why. I think sometimes when someone else looks at your life from a different perspective they help you back on track when you didn't realise you had come off of it."

"She has helped me love myself again, look after myself and I thank her for warm and kind words, her relaxed atmosphere and allowing me to just speak what was on my mind. It felt like talking to a friend and I loved that about her.

I will def use Angie again if and when I need that advice and guiding in life again.

Thank you Angie :) x."

"If you have tried other counselling, don't give up! Not all counsellors and therapy is the same. I would thoroughly recommend Angie, she is very approachable and easy to work with."

"Angie has been an extremely good listener and is able to respond with clarity - she makes things sound so simple (in a good way) and allows you to see the wood through the trees. Her passion shines through about the work she does but also the people she works with, it's clear to see that not only does she understand, but she cares."

"As someone that has never been to counselling before, she put me at ease and made me feel incredibly welcome."

"Angie helped me to understand myself so much more than I ever have done. This has had a really positive effect on the way I feel about myself and the way I deal with particular situations."

"Choosing the person I wanted to speak to was one of the hardest parts of counselling. I chose Angie because of her warm and smiley photo and can now highly recommend her. She made me feel at ease from the moment I first spoke with her. Angie has actually changed my life and I will be forever grateful for it."

"Without the guidance of Angie, my husband and I would most certainly be divorced. Through many sessions we have reached a point where we can use the tools we learnt to deal with our marriage in a positive way. We are very thankful to Angie for being open, supportive and non-judgemental. I would say to anyone on the brink of a breakup or divorce- call Angie!!!!"

Supervision

In addition to providing counselling, I provide supervision to counsellors, barristers, solicitors and others in emotionally-demanding jobs.

I offer a FREE 30 minute face-to-face meeting to potential supervisees so you can get an idea of how I work. Ì specialise in helping newly-qualified counsellors and trainees - a time that requires much support, containment and guidance. I also offer advice and guidance to those setting up in Private Practice.

This includes: registering as self employed, where and how to advertise, building your profile, getting a logo, business cards, flyers and website advice, how to attract and keep clients, book keeping, going paperless, CPD, finding an accountant, room advice etc.

I also run a supervision group on the 1st Wednesday of every month, 3.30 until 5 pm with a maximum of 3 other professionals. If you'd like to join,  please get in touch. The cost is £25.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
