About me

Often people come to counselling with a unclear general feeling of confusion about the way their life is going but don’t always know what is causing this.  Time with your counsellor is a way for you to work out what this confusion and lack of clarity actually means and for you to gain insight into your life and feel restored again.

I am a BACP and BUPA Accredited Counsellor/Therapist with many years experience of offering counselling and psychotherapy - I offer Person Centred therapy to individuals and Solution Focused therapy to couples.

Person Centred counselling and therapy is a non judgemental, empathic approach that gives you the opportunity to explore any issues or feelings you want to address, at your own pace. Being treated with respect and as the unique person that you are.  I will create therapeutic conditions to help you to grow and make any changes you want to make. People who attend my practice usually find that they have better clarity and self understanding, and most importantly grow self acceptance through this type of therapy and compassion towards themselves.

I am experienced in counselling people with many different life stories and on all sorts of issues. You are totally unique even if you seem to have similar problems and concerns others. That means that even if I have helped people with the same type of concerns you are experiencing, the way you feel and how you change, is unique to you. I am open and ready to hear about how things feel to you, and to try and help you with this.

Some of the concerns that people have talked about in therapy with me have included:-

Drug and alcohol use
Gender Identity
Sexual Identity

About Person Centred Therapy

Because everyone is different, the therapy you will receive from me will be individual to you. My practice is non discriminatory. I will not make assumptions about you, but will be attentive to you and try to understand you and your concerns. I will listen carefully to you and accompany you without judgement.

Counselling and psychotherapy is sometimes mistakenly thought of as passive listening, but even though I will help you to develop your own ability to make decisions, and will not direct you, as your counsellor you will find that I will be very actively engaged with you. We will work together in the therapy.

The type of therapy I offer is called 'Person Centred.' It is a non-judgemental and well-researched approach to therapy based on the work of renowned American psychologist Carl Rogers. In 2014.

I have offered person centred counselling and psychotherapy to people struggling with intense problems and strong feelings, as well as people who feel worried, upset, or who need to work out a solution to a problem that they have. I will trust you to to make use of the help I offer to change your life.

Movement propels people forward – literally and figuratively. Many of my clients prefer to take their sessions out of the office and into the outdoors. Somehow the simple act of walking while talking out life’s issues creates an environment of possibility and change – of forward movement. Through the rhythm of walking and talking there is a sync between myself and my clients. At a moderate pace, healing and breakthroughs occur!

Walk & Talk sessions are conducted exactly the same way with respect to processing challenges and concerns, discussing relationship worries, working through recovery, healing, and addressing goals – the only difference is our session is conducted outdoors while walking. I conduct my Walk & Talk Sessions from my Forest Gate office which is located on the edge of open parkland (Wanstead Flats).  For further details please see my website

I currently charge £50.00 per 50 minute session for individual counselling (I have a few concessionary places, please enquire on contact and £70.00 per 75 minute session for couples for evening and weekend appointments. I am able to take referrals from those who have medical insurance from both BUPA and Aviva.  I offer early morning appointments between 7.00am and 9.00am for those who wish to attend before work.

I am able to offer sessions between the hours of 10.00am and 5.00pm at a discounted rate of £40.00 for individuals and £60.00 for couples.

Further information

In the event of us deciding to work together, the counselling process is open ended, sometimes people come to counselling with something very specific and when this happens it may be sufficient to work together for just a few sessions.  Generally, however, working with a counsellor is longer term than this.  You will know when the time comes and its right for you to end our work together.

I work separately as a specialist hypnotherapist dealing with  smoking cessation, weight loss and phobias.  Details of this service can be found at
