About me

Are you and your partner feeling trapped in a cycle of passive conflict and disconnection? Does it seem like communication has broken down, passion has waned, and you're no longer sure you're in love?

You're not alone. Many midlife, married, and long-term couples find themselves in this painful place, wondering whether to stay or if it's time to leave. But there is hope. Seeking professional help can provide the relief and guidance you need to navigate these challenges.

With over 12 years of experience as a psychotherapeutic counsellor and couples counsellor, I specialise in midlife relationships, marriage, and long-term partnerships. I offer a unique blend of support tailored to your specific needs, helping you gain confidence, clarity, and deeper commitment to yourself and your partner, whether you decide to stay or leave.

My services are designed to meet you exactly where you are—whether you're actively considering separation or divorce, finding yourself awake at 3:17 am with thoughts of divorce lingering, or seeking to recommit, working with me results in clarity, calmness, and the courage and tools to take the next step.

In Discernment Counselling, we pause to gain clarity before making big decisions. We explore what's led to your relationship crisis and each person's role. Whether you decide to work on your relationship, stay as you are, or part ways amicably, you'll achieve a decision made with respect, autonomy, and understanding.

In weekly Couples Therapy sessions, you and your partner embark on a journey to heal past wounds, rebuild trust, and deepen intimacy and communication. Whether you're seeking to rediscover affection or strengthen your commitment and teamwork, the sessions are tailored to address your specific needs and circumstances, empowering you to take the lead in transforming your relationship.

I provide immersive couples therapy intensives ideal for busy professional couples who want to dedicate time to their relationship, even amidst clashing schedules. In these sessions, you and your partner can focus entirely on healing, rebuilding, and strengthening your relationship, regardless of your busy lives.

As a dual-qualified counsellor and coach, my coaching program, Relationship Confidence and Clarity, helps married women discover hidden patterns and beliefs affecting their relationships. By gaining confidence and clarity, they are empowered to make authentic choices that align with their desires for love.

I post regularly on marriage and relationships. Please take a look at my blog: www.sdhcounselling.co.uk/blog.

Our relationships matter and affect all areas of our lives, whether at home or work. The quality of our relationship impacts our mental health. Couples therapy isn't about quick fixes; it's about fostering lasting change. My approach aims to cultivate sustainable transformation, ensuring your relationship becomes resilient and deeply connected.

Today, take the time to learn how to deepen your relationship. Let's create a roadmap together for a healthier, more loving way of relating. Contact me today to schedule your first session.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
