About me

Sometimes life seems more difficult to cope with than normal. Other times we may want to break out of an ever recurring cycle. If this sounds familiar counselling might be right for you.

I am an experienced senior accredited Counsellor and work in a humanistic/person centred way. Over the years I have worked with clients on a variety of issues like anxiety, anger, depression, abortion, abuse, relationship issues, self esteem, stress, chronic illness and loss. I offer a personal, confidential, non judgemental service and hope to offer therapy to suit you. I see my role as helping you to explore what is on your mind and by so doing open up new ways of thinking and moving on.

I offer counselling sessions  either  via face to face, online or walking outdoors.

I work with clients of all ages from 11 years upwards.

In addition I have extensive experience working with adolescents. I have knowledge of special educational needs like dyslexia, AS, autism and global difficulties.

I am also a trained bereavement/loss counsellor and have experience in working with terminal ill clients and their relatives and the bereaved.

I provide a safe place in which to explore areas of difficulties and to work together towards moving to a better place in life in a confidential and professional way. On many occasions I have been privileged to see clients discover new ways of coping and enjoying life to the full again.

I offer both, short term and long term 1:1 counselling depending on individual needs. I am an accredited member of BACP and a senior accredited member of The National Counselling Society (MNCS). I am registered with UKRCP and adhere to the BACP Code of  Practice and Ethics and I am fully insured.

I work mainly from my home address. North Holmwood can easily be reached from Dorking. There is parking available on the road. On the first appointment we can assess if this is the right setting for you.  I have recently added online and walking therapy session.

Appointment availability can be discussed on first contact.

Knowledge of German and Italian if needed.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Client AH

Talking to Monika, I quickly started to feel that I had more space in my head. I became more able to make sense of what had seemed like a huge muddle. Monika has helped me to see that it is worth taking the time to think about how I am, and that I am worth that time! As a result I am much less afraid to consider what I really want and to make some important changes.

Client J

It was a very strange and scary prospect talking to someone I don't know. But Monika was engaged with me at all times and made it all easy to get through. What and invaluable service. You have given me my life back and I will always be thankful.

Client K

In reflecting on our time together, I find myself enormously grateful that from the first session you created an atmosphere where it felt safe to do the work I needed to do.  I was always confident that you were listening attentively, and that you would meet whatever I said with acceptance.  And your comments and questions showed a great skill in channelling the energy I brought to the sessions into a positive and fruitful direction.  The time we spent together has made a great difference in my life, and I feel very fortunate to have had you as my therapist.
