Marcia Manderson. MBACP Coun.Dip/ Msc Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.
I believe from time to time life’s stresses can get in the way, we may question our sense of belonging or identity. We may have had a bereavement or loss. We may be re-living a traumatic event or struggling with our mental health. We can all get a little stuck in a rut sometimes.
I can support you to move forward from this place. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space from which you can share whatever feelings and fears are on your mind and together we can move towards a solution.
I offer counselling and therapy for people from all backgrounds and communities, including the LGBTQ, black community and any marginalised individuals.
I am based in South Manchester, close to Chorlton, Whalley Range, Stretford, Sale and Old Trafford. There are excellent transport links and I am 5 minutes away from the tram station.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member of the BACP and a fully qualified Person Centred Therapeutic Counsellor (Dip.) and also a member of the BABCP as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (MSc).
I have been a trauma focused therapist for some years now and work with issues of past and present abusive content of a sexual/violent nature. I work with organisations that specialise in this area of trauma work with both men and women. I incorporate Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy into my practice when needed.
I have practiced around Mental Health issues, with a diverse client base in Primary Care Mental Health Service, as well as for voluntary sector organisations. I counsel clients in a short term/solution focused way as well as longer term work, around issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, identity, relationship issues, esteem, loss, phobias, OCD and bi-polar disorder. I am able to work with clients who have autism in a person centred way and are struggling with a range of issues.
I currently practice as a Trauma Therapist at Manchester Rape Crisis and Survivors Manchester, as well as in private practice.
