Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am an experienced and qualified (BA Hons), individual and couple counsellor and psychotherapist in Chichester and Portsmouth. I have experience of working with clients with many different issues including anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self esteem and addictions.
People choose to see me because they want to sort out their distressing issues in an impartial and professional environment, without feeling they are worrying or burdening their family or friends. Or because they want to sort out their distressing personal or work issues by talking to a professional counsellor.
I provide a confidential space, free from judgement, allowing you to talk openly about the issues which are causing you difficulty. I can support you in understanding yourself and your situation better, and in knowing how to make changes that will help you to progress with your life.
I work within the Humanistic model of counselling which centres on valuing and appreciating you as a person and focusing on your personal development. There are a number of ways that I work within the Humanistic model, including:
- ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
- Solution Focused Therapy
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
- NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
Counselling is about change and this can be challenging, however, the rewards of counselling can be really great in terms of understanding yourself and your situation better. By being open and curious you can gain insight into the difficulties that your are experiencing and learn new skills that will allow you to make the changes you need to move forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy - MBACP.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2006. Prior to setting up my private counselling practice I worked as a counsellor for students in a secondary school, for a general counselling service for adults in West Sussex and within the field of addiction. I have also worked as a helpline counsellor for a major Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider.
In addition I have wide experience as a counsellor for adults at a Carers Support Service, where I set up and ran an Emotional Support Line. I now work for the same organisation supporting Carers who are looking after a partner, relative or friend with a dementia and as a support group facilitator and workshop provider and trainer.
My private counselling work involves general one-to-one counselling for adults; Alongside my counselling work I co-produce and co-facilitate workshops with a colleague.
