Hi, I'm Edwina, a qualified and experienced counsellor. You don't have to be ill in order to want to feel better. If life is getting you down and you would like to make changes I can help. We all struggle from time to time and that is completely normal. If you're going through a tough patch you don’t have to struggle alone, together we can look at what changes you’d like to make and how you can accept those things that can’t be changed.
Who I work with
I work with people just like you, adults and young people, which I do from my practice in the centre of Stamford. Counselling is a collaborative process; we work together exploring your concerns and I provide a confidential, safe and non-judgemental place for this to happen. In my experience many people feel anxious talking about their concerns, you're in safe hands, we'll explore your past and present at a pace that's right for you. So you can move forward with your life feeling lighter and more empowered.

How I work
My theoretical approach is Humanistic and integrative, an integration of Person Centred approach and Object Relations. This means that I am able to apply theory to help provide you with a different insight into your issue(s). The foundation of my theory is that you, with guidance, have the ability to overcome adversity and make changes. I work with you to really hear, understand and help you.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is all about seeing if we can work together. It’s important that you have a counsellor that you feel ‘gets you’ because if you don’t feel comfortable to share your story then you won’t get the most out of counselling. I normally take down details of your concerns so that we can plan how is best to collaboratively work together. Part of the process is seeing how you’d like to use the session which can include creative elements if that’s the best fit for you.
Where do I work from?
My practice is located on the 1st floor at 4 Broad Street, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 1PB. There is free parking for 1 hour directly in front of the building. Alternatively North Street pay and display Car Park postcode PE9 1EG is a 2 minute walk away from my practice.

- Practitioner Skills in working with Obesity and Weight Management - National Centre for Eating Disorders
- Certificate in Counselling Studies - City College Peterborough
- Certificate in Awareness in Bereavement Care - CRUSE
- BA (Hons) Sociology and Criminology - University of Northampton
I hold a current enhanced DBS (old CRB) check.

Putting your money to good use
The price of a 50 minute session is £40, concessionary/reduced prices are available for students and appointments attended between 9am - 5pm.
The fees that I charge are to cover the cost of my premises, my time, training and further development to keep my skill set fresh and any resources that I may supply you with, as part of working together.
Seeking counselling is a positive step in working through your confusion and difficult feelings. One of the main reasons people do not enter into counselling is because they doubt its ability to ‘work’. You are not a problem to be fixed, however I can understand the urge to know what the benefits of my services are: I use measurable reviews to see if there have been changes for you during the counselling process, although most people see the changes for themselves in the form of better communication with others, improved emotional wellbeing and improved resilience.

Food Eating Weight and Size Matters
A particular interest and area of expertise of mine, is how we interact with food.
A difficult relationship with food is something that many people have problems with but no idea how to change. I have trained with the National Centre for Eating Disorders in the UK in order to help those with disordered eating, in particular those with overweight issues. Being or feeling overweight in today’s society can be challenging. We turn to food in times of stress or anxiety, in celebration or commiseration.
It may be that you feel trapped in a never ending cycle of unsuccessful diet after diet, or you found a diet that worked but then the weight came back? You may have a preoccupation with ‘healthy’ foods or your eating patterns may be identifiable as overeating, binge eating or bulimia.
Disordered eating is a way of dealing with difficult emotions and as a result is really difficult to deal with alone - Let me help.
As part of helping you figure out your relationship with food I will provide you with emotional support, accurate knowledge about food and the body, and the tools to bring back balance to your life, so that you can make sustainable changes to your weight and well-being. - No dieting involved!
