Dave Davies Dip.Therapeutic Counselling, Registered MBACP
I am a professional, experienced therapist in private practice offering compassionate and client focused counselling to individuals in Kingsbridge. My integrative training means that I draw on different approaches and techniques from CBT, Person Centred and Gestalt to gently support you in understanding your situation and to assist you in meeting the challenges that life can present.
I am a warm and down to earth person and offer a solid, professional and trusting relationship as the corner stone of my counselling work. You can see further information about how I work on my website:
How I work and what to expect
Counselling offers the chance to step back from what can seem overwhelming, stressful or confusing and gives the time and space to reflect and make sense of things. I can support you in safely exploring and identifying your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviour in relation to your situation.
Working together we may consider how past events and relationships can influence your life today and how this affects you. During the counselling process we will also work to identify and develop your strengths and resources, build emotional awareness and consider what living well means for you.
An introductory session gives us the opportunity to see if we would like to work together. We can begin to look at your situation and think about what you would like to achieve from the counselling. Once we are clear about what we are working towards, we can look at how many sessions this may take and discuss how we may work together. I build in regular reviews along the way to ensure that we are keeping on track and that the counselling is meeting your needs.
My approach offers different ways of working with clients to suit their particular needs. Most people like to sit and talk, while others sometimes chose to use creative means to express themselves. It is ultimately what is right for you and what you feel comfortable working with.
