Profile

I offer private and confidential short, medium and long term therapy to individuals. My main practise is in central Exeter. I also practice in both Plymouth and Totnes.

Core Process Psychotherapy combines Western psychotherapeutic understanding with the wisdom and compassion of Buddhist psychology. It has an emphasis on the cultivation of awareness through bringing ‘mindfulness’ to the therapeutic relationship.

I have a particular interest in working with dream material, anxiety, depression, substance use, spiritual and midlife issues.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

Prior to training as a psychotherapist I was employed from 1981 by local and national charities ostensibly in the fields of mental health, drug and alcohol misuse and homelessness. Alongside this I was also self employed as a freelance trainer and consultant within these same fields. Through the course of this work I completed trainings in a diverse range of therapeutic approaches e.g. Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Behavioural approaches etc. 

On completing a Foundation course in Core Process Psychotherapy in 2001, I undertook a 4 year MA in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute in Devon (validated by Middlesex University. This led to accreditation with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy).

I continue to continue to develop professionally through attendance at relevant CPD courses.

Fees

I offer an initial meeting free of charge.

Exeter - £40 per session (1 hour). A limited number of concessionary spaces available.

Plymouth - £45     

Totnes - £45

We would have a review following the first 6 sessions and periodically thereafter.

Further Information

Exeter Access & Facilities: There is good access to free 2 hour parking spaces and a pay and display car park across the road and an additional 2 car parks within 5 minutes walk. The building is 2 minutes walk from Exeter Central Train Station and 10 mins from Exeter St Davids and the main bus station. There are separate male and female toilets.

Plymouth Access & Facilities: I work from the Waterloo Wellbeing Centre in the Stoke area of Plymouth. There is plenty of free parking outside the centre and toilets.  

Totnes Access & Facilities: The therapy room is 5 minutes walk from the centre of Totnes. There is free parking within 2 minutes walk and there is a separate toilet.
