About me

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. My aim is to provide a professional and welcoming counselling service for both adults and young people aged 16+. You can find me at the Stanlaw Abbey Business Centre in Ellesmere Port, conveniently located just a few minutes away from Cheshire Oaks.

In life, there are moments when our own thoughts and emotions can become overwhelming. It often requires a great deal of inner strength to maintain a composed facade at work or in our personal lives when we are grappling with internal turmoil. There are times when all we yearn for is to project a cheerful exterior to the world. However, within us, our thoughts can become entangled, and our emotions may seem unmanageable. These challenges can arise from various sources, such as relationship or family issues, experiences of loss, work-related frustrations, or a pervasive feeling of being stuck in life.

Experiencing feelings of sadness, anger, or confusion is a natural part of life. However, it can also be challenging to take the step toward seeking professional help. You might hesitate to confide in family or friends out of fear of being misunderstood or judged. In such situations, finding solace in speaking with a professionally trained counsellor within a confidential environment can often provide a sense of relief and understanding.

To me, counselling isn't about offering advice or imposing my own solutions. Instead, it's about being there to accompany you on your journey as you search for your own answers.

Initial consultation

I provide a complimentary 30-minute consultation during which we can explore the reasons that have led you to seek counselling. This session offers an opportunity to discuss what I can offer you, your counselling objectives, and a chance for us to become acquainted. We will also go over some essential aspects of our therapeutic agreement. If, after this initial meeting, we both believe that we can work well together and you feel at ease with me as your counsellor, we can arrange a specific day and time for our regular sessions. If you're considering counselling for the first time, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at 07544094617 for a casual conversation or to schedule an appointment – there's no obligation involved.

Ongoing counselling

I provide both short-term (6-12 sessions) and long-term (open-ended) therapy options, with weekly sessions scheduled consistently, without a predetermined endpoint. The duration of our work together is tailored to your unique needs, objectives, and preferences. Typically, individual weekly sessions last 50 minutes each. This flexibility allows us to focus on overcoming your challenges and achieving your therapeutic goals at a pace that suits you.

The way I work and my experience

I employ a diverse range of counselling approaches, customizing them to align with the specific needs of each individual client. Recognizing that each person and their circumstances are unique, I firmly believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. While my practice is rooted in a strong humanistic foundation, I seamlessly integrate various modalities, including Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to ensure that our therapeutic work is tailored to your requirements. For more in-depth information about these modalities, I encourage you to visit my website.

I bring a wealth of experience gained from working within a variety of charitable organizations, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), and drug and alcohol service providers. My expertise encompasses a wide range of issues, including but not limited to:

·        Depression

·        Anxiety

·        Coping with past sexual or physical abuse

·        Suicidal thoughts

·        Self-harm

·        Bereavement and loss

·        Stress management

·        Personal growth and development

·        Managing anger

·         Addressing self-esteem or low self-worth issues

·         Family issues

A little bit about me

As a therapist, I am dedicated to my profession and also a down-to-earth individual with a profound love for nature, reading, and the endless exploration of new information online. Those close to me often describe me as a compassionate and supportive person, and I'm known for having a good sense of humour.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to work with clients from diverse backgrounds, spanning various ages and cultures. These individuals bring a wide array of concerns to our therapeutic sessions. Within the therapeutic space, they can concentrate on their goals and the changes they aspire to achieve through our collaborative relationship, all while moving towards a more positive sense of well-being.

Having encountered my own share of life's ups and downs, I truly understand that taking the initial step to seek professional help can be daunting and may sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed or embarrassed. It's important to emphasize that my role is not one of judgment or diagnosis; instead, I'm here to assist you in exploring what changes you wish to make or maintain in your life according to your own desires and needs.
