Profile
I provide confidential, supportive and caring counselling and psychotherapy in a safe setting where you can be really heard. Counselling and Psychotherapy can help when we feel stuck, low, stressed, anxious or depressed and our friends and family may not be able to help or they may be the cause of our problems. Talking to a professional may help to understand what is going on and help make sense of your life in a different way, helping you to feel happier and more confident.
For both individuals and couples, my hope is to help you understand what is preventing you leading a fulfilling, loving life and to discover how to make the changes you need to live the life you want.
How I Can Help
I believe conflicts and pain both for the individual and within relationships are an invitation for personal (and mutual) growth and healing. In individual counselling we explore how past patterns may stop you from living a fulfilling life in the present and may also then effect your future. In relationships, I act as coach to support and assist you on the journey to a more fulfilling, deeper and loving relationship. Together, we will get to the root of what is preventing you from leading your life as you would wish. You will learn new skills that will help you break free of old patterns and create more satisfying relationships with yourself and others.
About Me
I am a UKCP accredited psychotherapist with over 11 years experience, working within the UKCP Ethical Framework.
I work with individuals and couples and offer both short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy.
I am a certified IMAGO Relationship Therapist - specialising in helping people improve their relationships.
I have Levels I and II in EMDR
I also offer Supervision for therapists and counsellors.
I have a particular interest in Relationship issues; general dissatisfaction with relationships, repeating patterns, affairs, power struggles in the different stages of relationships, sexuality, same sex relationships, feelings of loneliness, disappointment and failure in relationships and more.
I am also very interested in the impact of living with or growing with parents or partners with Personality Disorders. If you live or grew up with a person with a Personality Disorder you may feel depressed, crazy, unable to feel 'solid' or unable to really know yourself and feel secure about yourself or those around you. Living with someone with a Personality Disorder can leave wounds and these wounds get in the way of our ability to give and receive love and therefore living a rewarding life.
I am skilled and knowledgable about working within the LGBT community - both as couples and as individuals. In particular, I work using Gay Affirmative Therapy and use the work of Dr. Joe Kort in my practice. (www.joekort.com)
IMAGO Relationship Therapy for couples - Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT) is a dynamic approach to healing and enriching relationships, providing couples and individuals with the necessary practical communication tools to listen to and understand each others needs better, resolve conflict and restore/deepen connection. You will be coached in practical and effective ways to help resolve conflict in your relationship, leading to a more intimate, fulfilling and loving relationship.
