"Counselling helps me to feel more comfortable with myself."
For a couple of years, I had strong anxiety within me that felt overwhelming at times. It affected my confidence and my perception of everything. It also made me feel like I had to be someone or something, I couldn't be content with just being "OK".
I've been in counselling for about four or five months now. Just talking about the issues with a great counsellor, having someone challenge me on my thoughts, really helps to unravel a lot of that insecurity that is within me.
Acceptance is probably the word that describes my journey the most. I'm so much more comfortable with myself and no longer feel I have to 'micromanage' parts of my personality. I would recommend it to anyone if they want to gain self-understanding and a redefined perception of themselves or their reality.
