About me
Thank you for your interest. If you’re here, something probably feels unsettled. Maybe a relationship keeps following the same pattern, or you’re in the middle of a change and not sure who you are on the other side of it. Maybe you’re carrying a lot, and your mind doesn’t switch off.
My name is Erin, a counsellor and psychotherapist (BACP Registered). I offer a calm, unhurried space where you can say things out loud and begin to understand them more clearly.
What I can help with
My work often centres on relationships and how we connect with others, but you don’t need a neat label for what you’re going through to get in touch. I work with adults on a wide range of concerns, including:
- Relationships, closeness and conflict
- Identity and belonging, including LGBTQ+ experiences
- Life transitions, relocation, immigration
- Attachment patterns and family relationships
- Anxiety, overthinking and low mood
Or simply a sense that something doesn’t feel right, even if you can’t yet say what
How I work
I draw on a few different approaches, some rooted in your current experience (person-centered), some in understanding where certain patterns come from (psychodynamic), and some more practical, solution-focused techniques - tailored to what actually fits you.
My practice is entirely online, so you can work with me from anywhere.
Training, qualifications & experience
- PhD in Psychology, Emotion and Social Relations Group, University of Oxford
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Academy
- MSc, Psychology and Human Development, University College London
- Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy, Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust
- I continually undergo further professional development, including Carolyn Spring Trauma Recovery and Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT)
Before training as a therapist, I spent years in research labs studying emotion regulation and how our moods shift day to day. That background gives me a lot of curiosity about how people work, and a commitment to offering therapy that helps. In the room, though, I’m less interested in theory than in you, your story, your space, and what matters to you. In the past, I’ve worked with Body & Soul Charity, Choose Therapy and Survivor Space Oxfordshire as an integrative therapist.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
