About us
Cornerstone is a professional, affordable counselling service based in Chaddisbrook House, Yateley, Hampshire. We are a registered charity that has been established for over 30 years providing, confidential support to individuals and couples aged 18 and over who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Our counsellors are professionally trained for the work they do, and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling Professionals.
We walk alongside our clients while they navigate the uncertainties and challenges of life, helping transform these challenges into life-enhancing opportunities. We provide support to our clients with care and compassion, we believe that through the strong relational connection that counselling offers, clients become empowered to move forward in a healthy, resilient manner.
We provide help for people with many different needs that include but not limited to: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, panic attacks, stress, anger management, abuse, family/relationship issues, problems at work and bereavement.
You may contact Cornerstone directly or you may be referred by your GP or other mental health professionals. We will arrange an initial assessment, to explore what you would like from counselling and answer any questions you may have about the service. If you wish to proceed you will be offered a counsellor who will see you on a weekly basis for a 50-min session.

Counselling invites you to change by helping you to find new strength and the freedom to make your own choices. Counselling is based on listening and is not about giving you advice, telling you what to do or judging you. It can, however, enable you to see things from a new perspective.
Training, qualifications & experience
We have a team of up to twelve counsellors who are all professionally trained, DBS checked and are members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) of which Cornerstone adheres to as we are also a BACP registered member.
Our counsellors come from all walks of life and have developed their own areas of specialism and ways of working with clients.
Cornerstone are proud to offer placements to some counsellors who are in their final stages of professional training.
All our counsellors receive professional supervision and are accountable to the organisation for the work they do.

Member organisations *
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Cornerstone is a self-funded charity having to meet all costs of providing a professional service. We aim to provide counselling to all, and we do ask clients to make a contribution. However, we would not want anyone to be deterred from seeking help due to financial means. Therefore, the number of counselling sessions and fees are discussed on an individual basis during the initial assessment.
