About me
Struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or life’s uncertainties? You don’t have to face it alone. Sessions are relaxed and conversational online; no pressure, just space to talk.
I’m Victoria Schwulst, a BACP-registered online counsellor providing affordable, professional support for young adults and teenagers across the UK. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck in negative thought patterns, or navigating a major life change, I offer a safe, understanding space to help you make sense of it all.
With dual registration through the BACP (UK) and HPCSA (South Africa), my approach is warm, collaborative, and designed to help you gain clarity, confidence, and practical coping tools. Sessions are online, making therapy flexible and accessible wherever you are.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Registered Counsellor with both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in the UK and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). My professional journey has allowed me to gain valuable experience in diverse settings, both in South Africa and internationally. I have worked with young adults, expats, and individuals navigating significant life transitions, helping them manage a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, identity challenges, and the emotional strain of adapting to new environments.
In addition to my formal training, I have worked for corporates, online high schools and with several NGOs across South Africa, providing psychoeducational workshops and one-on-one support. I’ve also had the privilege of working on the Phelophepa Health Train, delivering free psychological services to underserved communities. This hands-on experience has shaped my compassionate and adaptable approach to therapy.
My practice integrates a variety of therapeutic techniques, drawing from positive psychology, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and play therapy. I believe in tailoring each session to the individual’s needs, ensuring a supportive and flexible approach that fosters growth and healing.
This rich combination of training and experience allows me to offer a global, empathetic perspective, particularly suited to helping young adults and expats facing life’s big transitions.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I offer specialized support for young adults and teenagers navigating the unique challenges of living abroad. As a counsellor with experience helping clients adjust to life changes, I understand the emotional, psychological, and cultural complexities that come with relocating to a new country. Some of the key themes I support include:
Relocating and adjusting as an expat: Moving overseas as a young adult or teenager can be overwhelming. I help clients process feelings of isolation, homesickness, and culture shock, while providing strategies to manage the uncertainty of a new environment.
Identity and belonging: Living in a different country can raise questions about identity, belonging, and self-understanding. I support clients in navigating the tension between maintaining their roots and adapting to a new cultural context.
Transitioning into independence: For young adults, moving abroad often means greater independence. I offer guidance through this transition, helping clients build confidence, manage responsibility, and cope with the stress of independence in an unfamiliar place.
Coping with anxiety and uncertainty: The uncertainty of moving to a new country can heighten feelings of anxiety. I provide techniques to manage worry, stress, and the unpredictability that often accompanies the experience of living abroad.
Building new social connections: Making new friends and establishing a support network can be challenging in a foreign environment. I help clients explore strategies for forming meaningful connections and overcoming social anxieties.
