BSc (Hons) PNCPS MBACP | Integrative Therapist

About me

Hi, I'm Tom, Based in Chatham, Medway, I work with adults and couples across Kent and I'm here to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and growth. I know reaching out for help can feel daunting, especially when life feels overwhelming. That's why I've created a space where you can feel genuinely heard, valued, and understood, without judgment.

My approach isn't about endless talking without direction, while I'm trained as an integrative therapist, I'm solution-focused and fairly direct in my style.

I have a particular passion for men's mental health, understanding the unique pressures men face and the difficulty many have in reaching out for support. However, I work with anyone facing life's challenges, whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions.

What makes my approach different is that I take an active, collaborative role in our sessions. I'll listen deeply, but I'll also gently challenge you when needed and help you identify concrete steps toward the life you want to create. I blend different therapeutic approaches depending on what serves you best, bringing together person-centred listening, cognitive-behavioural techniques, and psychodynamic exploration with solution-focused principles.

I work with individuals and couples, offering everything from short-term focused work to longer therapeutic relationships. Perhaps you need help with a specific issue, or maybe you're looking for deeper personal exploration, I'm comfortable working at whatever pace feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BSc and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I've also completed a Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Clinical Supervision and specialised training in Trauma-Informed Practice and Online and Telephone Counselling.

I'm an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold Professional Accreditation with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I maintain full professional insurance and adhere to the ethical guidelines of both organisations.

My training encompasses an integrative approach, drawing from person-centred, cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, and solution-focused brief therapy modalities. Through my ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD), I've completed additional specialised training in couples counselling, psychological assessments, and safeguarding, ensuring I stay current with best practices in the field.

Throughout my practice, I've worked with clients facing a diverse range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, addiction, anger management, and self-esteem concerns. My trauma-informed training particularly informs my work with clients who have experienced difficult life events, allowing me to create a safe therapeutic environment that recognises the impact of trauma on mental health and well-being.

I also have experience working with couples, helping partners improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their emotional connection.
My clinical supervision qualification means I also support other therapists in their professional development, which keeps me engaged with current therapeutic practices and approaches.

I'm committed to ongoing professional development and engage in regular clinical supervision to ensure I provide the highest quality of care. I also speak Polish fluently, allowing me to offer therapy in both English and Polish.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
