About me

Hi, my name is Teresa,

Life experiences, can often lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, feelings of sadness or confusion. Struggling to deal with everyday situations.

As a counsellor, I work in an integrative way, drawing on person-centred, cognitive behavioural (CBT), and solution-focused approaches. This means I can adapt my style to suit your individual needs and offer support that feels right for you.

At the heart of my practice is creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and supported to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Counselling can help you make sense of why you think, feel and act, bringing insight into patterns of relating and ways of being. It can empower you to set goals and make changes to move your life forward.

My aim is to walk alongside you on your journey, helping you to build on your strengths, discover new perspectives, and find a way forward that feels meaningful and achievable for you.

I’m a Bournemouth based qualified Counsellor experienced in counseling for anxiety, bereavement & loss, feelings of depression, low self-esteem and confidence building for individuals, couples, and children.

I believe in creating a warm, supportive and safe environment from which you can explore the difficulties you face, rediscover your strengths and make changes that will improve your life.

I am a qualified counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work, and a Graduate Certificate in ‘Professional Practice’ along with various qualification’s, around the Mental Health Act and legislation. I bring many years of experience in my work with families.

Counselling sessions can be arranged during the day or evening and weekend sessions are available. I work from my home, offering a therapeutic setting overlooking the sea.  I offer long term, short term counselling, face to face, remotely and also walk and talk therapy.

Please contact me for more information or an informal chat.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work, and a Graduate certificate in Professional Practice along with various qualification’s around the Mental Health Act and legislation. I bring many years of experience as a Social Worker, supporting adults, children, and families across a variety of settings. This has given me a deep understanding of the different challenges people face and the importance of compassion, respect, and trust in building positive change, drawing upon a number of theoretical approaches.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
