About me
Hi my name is Sumaya and I am a qualified integrative counsellor with a BA (hons) in Counselling and over four years of experience supporting adults through a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.
My approach is integrative, meaning I tailor therapy to each individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), humanistic counselling, and many other evidence-based techniques, depending on your needs and goals.
I have specialist training in bereavement through Cruse and experience working with individuals affected by domestic abuse. I am also currently training in psychosexual psychotherapy, allowing me to support clients with intimacy, relationship, and sexual wellbeing concerns with sensitivity and care.
How I Work
I believe that therapy should be collaborative, compassionate, and empowering. I strongly value the importance of treating others with respect, kindness, and professionalism. I am mindful of boundaries and sensitive to cultural differences, values, and beliefs. This helps me create a welcoming and safe space where my clients feel comfortable, understood, and respected. I aim to communicate in a thoughtful and inclusive way, recognising that everyone’s background and experiences are unique. Together, we will work to understand what is happening for you, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and develop healthier ways of coping and moving forward.
Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma, or simply feel stuck or overwhelmed, I aim to help you feel heard, understood, and supported. Sessions are guided by your needs, values, and pace, with the goal of helping you build greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
I offer face-to- ace, online and telephone sessions and I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
