About me
Hi, I'm Sophie - thank you for visiting my profile.
It can be a big step to start therapy and I will welcome you in with warmth and compassion. Our work will be gentle but purposeful - if you’re feeling low, overwhelmed, anxious, sad or stuck, I can help you find your way through to emerge stronger, with greater self awareness and kindness. Sometimes, it can even be fun...
I believe strongly in the transformative potential of therapy, that every client is unique and that the power of a good therapeutic relationship can move mountains for anyone.
As your therapist, I will seek to really understand the uniqueness of you and your perspective, feelings and experience.
I will offer you a space to explore these and to feel safe, warm, accepted and deeply valued.
I will believe in your ability to solve problems, be creative, heal and grow and will work with you as your supportive cheerleader.
All you need to do is bring yourself, just as you are…with your increasing self awareness and compassion, you will explore new ways to engage with life’s ups and downs, with your relationships and to move toward possible desired change or goals.
I work with adults across Brighton & Hove, in person and online, who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, low self esteem, relationships, family, trauma, identity, transitions, stress or other mental health and life challenges.
If you would like to find out more about me and how I work, please get in touch or visit my website.
I am a registered member of the BACP, whose ethical standards I adhere to. I will try to respond to your needs and how you want to work and you can speak openly in confidence that what you share will remain between us.
Training, qualifications & experience
BA Hons, MA, Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. MBACP.
I have experience in working with clients across a broad range of ages, backgrounds and life struggles.
I have worked for a charity supporting women, in a hospice setting with patients and bereaved loved ones, with carers, older people and in a university, as well as having been a caseworker for a Member of Parliament.
If I don't feel that I am able to offer the support you need, I can refer you to colleagues who would be better placed to do this.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Sessions cost £55.
However, I understand that cost can be a block to everyone being able to access therapy and I hold some spaces for clients who may find this harder. Please ask if this is something you would like to discuss.
