About me

Sophie Cann Clinical Psychotherapist, PGDip, UKCP, BACP

"Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself." Rumi

You didn’t choose to be anxious, depressed, or traumatised. You didn’t ask for a chemical imbalance, a genetic predisposition, or the painful experiences you’ve lived through. None of this is your fault.

But it is your responsibility to decide what you want to do next.

Responsibility isn’t about blame, it’s about agency. You may not have been able to control what happened to you, but you can influence what happens from here. You can reach out for support. You can practice self-care. You can set boundaries. You can choose healing.

Your mental health may not be your fault, but your healing is your journey and it’s a journey you don’t have to walk alone.

My Approach

I have an integrative transpersonal therapeutic approach, I draw from neuroscience, cognitive therapies, Gestalt, Jungian, psychodynamic depth work, dreamwork, Humanistic, Breathwork, Transpersonal, creative imagination, and body-based modalities. This lets me meet you where you are, and listen holistically, and follow the pace that feels right for you and join you on your journey towards self-discovery and healing.

Other areas of therapy can include Sand Tray exploration, sound work and guided visualisations.

Our work is about exploring what matters most to you. I’ll walk alongside you supporting, guiding when invited, and helping you uncover your own answers. You don’t need to arrive with anything but yourself. Together, we create space for your feelings and experiences to unfold naturally.

My practice is warm and rooted in openness, compassion with a soft and kindly presence. By holding your best interests at the centre, I aim to help you connect with your story, process difficult emotions, and move toward greater confidence, freedom, and possibility.

Because everyone’s needs are different, I tailor my approach to meet your specific needs session by session.:

  • Psychodynamic work explores how early experiences shape your current life, freeing you from repeating old patterns.
  • Person-centred/Humanistic therapy focuses on your growth, choices, and how you show up in the world.
  • Transpersonal approaches support transformation, creativity, and connection to your deeper self.
  • Cognitive (CBT) can ease anxious thoughts, negative self-talk, and unhelpful patterns, helping you work toward specific goals.
