About me

Counsellor & Psychotherapist – Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham & Online

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist offering 1:1 counselling for adults and young people, as well as couples and families. I work with clients face to face in Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth, Erdington, Great Barr and Central Birmingham and I also offer online counselling across the UK.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore together how past experiences may have shaped unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior - patterns that might be holding you back from living the life you’d like. The life you deserve.

Life brings difficulties for all of us, but having the space to explore your role in framing and responding to those challenges can be truly transformative. Whether you’re feeling stuck in your relationships, lacking meaningful connections, stagnating in your career, or noticing an unhealthy relationship with yourself, talking can help make change possible.

My approach is rooted in compassion and hope. We all have the capacity to grow and change and I aim to help you discover (or rediscover) your own inner resources and develop greater compassion for yourself. My training integrates a number of therapeutic models, so we will explore the approach that best suits you. I have spent years developing my skills, advancing my learning and developing ways to support the people I work with.

I am an accredited Parenting Apart Practitioner, supporting parents and families affected by post-separation conflict to discover ways to effectively navigate the challenges of life after the breakdown of a marriage/ relationship. In addition, I have experience of working in the community with individuals who have lived through abuse, coercive control and control, recognizing the complex ways that these experiences can affect everyday life and potentially limit how we view our future.

I support individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship difficulties, post-separation trauma, emotional distress, low self-esteem or a sense of feeling stuck. Many people come to counselling following the breakdown of a relationship, during periods of family change, or when patterns within relationships begin to feel overwhelming.

Whether you’re new to therapy or returning to it, I welcome you into a space where you can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
