About me
I am an experienced counsellor who can offer you a confidential space where you can tell your story and be heard without judgement. I am a warm and compassionate counsellor who will welcome you as you are, with whatever you need to bring. I work with both individuals and couples.
You may be feeling overwhelmed with sadness, anger and hopelessness, experiencing anxiety, depression or relationship problems, or perhaps you feel lost with no sense of direction. Together we can explore and work through these feelings and anxieties, gaining a greater understanding of where they may originate from and the impact they are having on you. By exploring unwanted patterns and behaviours, we can work together towards a deeper understanding of you and your relationships, which can enable you to make changes and move forward.
I am experienced in working with issues including, but not limited to, abuse, addiction, loss and bereavement, childhood trauma, stress, loneliness, relationship difficulties, lack of confidence, work-related stress, loss of identity, anxiety and depression.
Working with you as a couple, I provide a space where we can explore the concerns and difficulties you are experiencing in the relationship, helping you to understand and communicate your needs more effectively.
I offer short term and open-ended therapy, where we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I am a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
If you feel I might be of help, please get in touch. My telephone number is 07821 959762 or you can email me via the contact form.
Training, qualifications & experience
- BA (Hons) in Counselling - University of Greenwich – First Class Honours
- Dip. Psychodynamic Counselling - University of Greenwich – Distinction
- Post Qualification Cert. in Couples Counselling
I have worked for a charitable organisation where I joined as a volunteer before progressing on to become an employed counsellor and assessor.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked for many years managing the HR department of a not for profit business. It was here that I developed my interest and passion for working with people, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges they face in the workplace and the difficulties they experience in their relationships.
I regularly attend CPD workshops to ensure my knowledge is up to date with current thinking and developments.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
