Meet some of the team

Beth McCay - Clinical Lead

I am Beth McCay, the Clinical Lead for the Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire branch, where I oversee a team of highly experienced therapists providing high-quality therapy services to the local community. As a BACP-accredited Psychotherapist and an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner, I have worked across various settings, including independent healthcare, the NHS, and educational institutions.

I have extensive experience in acute mental health settings, supporting adults with complex and enduring psychological challenges such as self-harm and personality disorders. In addition, I work with individuals experiencing general mental health difficulties, including anxiety and depression.

Tiffany Spicer

I am a qualified Occupational Therapist, mental health specialist, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 20 years of experience. I’ve worked across the NHS, private practice, and charitable organisations, supporting individuals and families at all life stages.

My clinical expertise includes working with a wide range of mental health challenges such as low mood, bipolar disorder, trauma, panic, OCD, eating disorders, and psychosis. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals experiencing psychotic symptoms, as well as those living with anxiety—a common and often debilitating condition that frequently co-occurs with other difficulties.

I take a personalised approach to therapy, recognising that each person’s experiences are unique and require thoughtful, tailored support. My aim is to help individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward. I offer private consultations in Milton Keynes and also provide remote therapy by phone or video for those who prefer flexible access to support. I’m an accredited member of both the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Jeff Smith

I am a qualified integrative counsellor, and it’s been quite a journey to get here. Hope played a part in enabling me to tie all the strings together, so to speak, and I feel it is something that I bring to my counselling.

My role as a counsellor is to work with you in developing a deeper understanding and acceptance of yourself, at your own pace and with whatever you bring to the sessions. Our time together will offer a confidential, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. We may look at patterns of behaviour and communication that no longer serve you, which can leave you feeling ‘stuck’ in your connection to others or in life generally.

I have training in the Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt approaches. I am registered with the BACP and abide by their Ethical Framework. I also have some experience in art therapy and can incorporate artistic expression and the use of imagery into sessions. Words can sometimes be tricky to find, and creativity can help with this.

Janice Teh

I’m a Relational Integrative Psychotherapist and UKCP member, currently working toward accreditation. I offer therapy to adults (18+) in person at my practices in Dunstable and Milton Keynes. I also volunteer with Frontline19, supporting NHS workers under ongoing pressure post-Covid.

I work with a range of emotional challenges, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, identity, and cultural issues. Some clients come with clear concerns; others seek clarity or deeper understanding of relational patterns. Whether short-term or long-term, I aim to journey with each person at their own pace.

I draw on various therapeutic models, tailoring my approach to each individual. Working relationally, I pay attention to how experiences unfold within the therapeutic relationship, often offering insight into wider life patterns. Clients describe me as calm, grounded, and easy to talk to.

With a background spanning medical sciences, pastoral care, cross-cultural work, and bereavement support, I bring a broad perspective to therapy. I grew up in Hong Kong and now live in the UK. My experience of navigating cultural integration informs my special interest in supporting Asian and South Asian clients, particularly those seeking culturally attuned therapy.

Abi Skyes

I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor working integratively, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor sessions to your individual needs. My aim is to offer a safe, relaxed, and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported—without pressure to be “fixed” or advised.

I work with empathy, curiosity, and respect, helping you explore your experiences and find your own answers. I have experience supporting adults, children, and young people in various settings.

My work with children is child-centred and creative. Each session allows your child to choose from a range of resources—such as toys, art materials, books, and sand tray—to express themselves freely and safely. This therapeutic play approach helps children explore emotions, develop a sense of self, build healthy relationships, and improve emotional regulation.

Discover How We Can Make a Difference:

At Serendipity, we understand that no two individuals are the same and that's why we take a uniquely personalised approach to your care. Our team of experienced psychologists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, counsellors, mental health nurses and occupational therapists are trained in a wide variety of evidence-based treatments that have been recommended by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as the most successful approaches. Some of these therapies include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma therapies (such as EMDR), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), schema therapy and mindfulness (for a more exhaustive list, please see below). We work with you to integrate these modalities to create a treatment plan that's unique to you.

Perhaps differently from other independent practitioners, we are proud that we also work as a team. This is a huge benefit to you in many ways. It means the person working with you has access to the support and expertise of many other specialists in their respective fields. They also have constant access to internal continuing professional development and training. Best of all, we can build a pathway of care around you to ensure you always have support if you need it.

Together, we'll work towards building resilience, fostering self-awareness, and empowering you to overcome life's obstacles.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Qualifications:

All our therapists have a wide range of qualifications including postgraduate doctoral level training, degree level and, or masters level qualifications. Some of our therapists have all three of these! Our therapists have also gained significant further training in specific therapeutic modalities (i.e. EMDR, CBT, DBT), presenting issues and client groups (child, adult, couples and families). We are lucky enough to claim that we have some of the top-level specialists in the country working with us on our team and the best thing about this is that those specialists have signed up to offer all of our team their support and help in our work as we need it.

Everyone in our team is accredited or actively working towards accreditation with the best professional membership bodies including HCPC, BACP, UKCP and NCS so you can be assured that our team have received the training and experience they need to know how to help in the best possible way. More information about the qualifications and training of specific members of our team is available on our website under their profile information.

school Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
