About me
Hello, I'm Sarah.
I'm a BACP-registered therapist, offering counselling online across the UK and face-to-face in Goonhavern, Cornwall.
Sometimes life can feel difficult in ways that are hard to explain. You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or struggling with relationships. Perhaps you're someone who appears to be coping well on the outside, but things feel quite different on the inside. Or you may have noticed patterns in your life that you'd like to understand better.
Whatever brings you to therapy, you don't need to have everything figured out before we meet.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, burnout, and life changes. I also have a particular interest in neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism, and the challenges that can come with feeling different, masking, or trying to meet other people's expectations.
My approach is integrative, with person-centred counselling at its heart. This means I take time to understand you as an individual, rather than assuming that one approach works for everyone. I'm interested in how our experiences shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others and respond to the world around us.
I believe that feeling understood, accepted, and able to be yourself within the therapeutic relationship can make a real difference. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you as we explore what's happening and what might help.
We'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, with space for whatever you need to bring.
Training, qualifications & experience
My core counselling training is person-centred, and I continue to develop my practice through further learning in trauma-informed and integrative approaches. I'm particularly interested in how our earlier experiences and relationships can influence the way we feel and respond in the present.
I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, self-esteem, relationships, and difficult life experiences, including through my counselling work with a mental health charity in Cornwall.
Alongside my counselling training, I have over 20 years of experience working in complex organisations, leadership development and executive coaching. This gives me an additional understanding of workplace pressures, burnout, perfectionism, confidence and the challenges that can come with change.
I believe that continuing to learn and reflect on my work is an important part of being a therapist.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Our first session
I appreciate that contacting a therapist can feel daunting, particularly if it's your first experience of counselling.
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other, talk about what has brought you to therapy and explore what you might be hoping for. There's no pressure to share anything you're not ready to discuss, and you don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to say.
It's also an opportunity for you to ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. Finding a therapist who feels right for you is important.
If you're considering therapy and would like to find out more, you're very welcome to get in touch.
