About me

Hello and welcome. Life can be challenging at times, but therapy offers a safe space where we can face those challenges together. Exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours, I can help you along on your journey to turn a corner, gain new insights, and start to make positive changes at a pace that suits you.

How I can help

I have worked with an array of issues. I'll draw from my extensive experience to help you manage difficult emotions and overcome negative thoughts, whatever the root causes of these problems are, to help you find more fulfilment in life.

I can help you with and within various issues and presentations, including, but not limited to:

  • a physical or mental health condition, or neurodiversity
  • life events, such as relationship breakdown or workplace stress
  • managing difficult emotions, such as anger and grief
  • overcoming negative thoughts and gaining self-confidence
  • other problems around identity and belonging, including issues around race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and more

I have the skills and experience to work with anything that a person might bring. In particular, I have a lot of experience working with ADHD/ADD, autism, bipolar disorder, different personality organisations (including narcissism and borderline), eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia, and ARFID), PMDD, and more. I have had extensive training in trauma, both complex and trauma relating to a single event, and I can work in a variety of ways tailored to your needs. I have a wealth of experience working with young people and adults of all ages. I am fully insured and have an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate.

My skills, techniques, and experience

I am a Chartered Psychologist and I have a deep understanding of the various facets of psychology (e.g., cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, social psychology). I draw from this knowledge in my work when looking at how distress, particularly relating to acute stress and trauma, can be alleviated. I take a holistic approach, addressing interpersonal and psychological issues, to ensure you feel the positive effects of being in therapy long after we finish working together.

My core training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy. One of the many ways I work is with all the different aspects of the self, including those you may have forgotten were there or not noticed before. We are the way we are for a reason, but sometimes our past habits and defence mechanisms no longer serve us. Together, we can develop links between your past and present experiences, look at what may be causing you distress, and how we can make long-term meaningful changes.

After embarking on training accredited by EMDR Europe, I am able to offer EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing). EMDR is known as an evidence-based psychotherapy that resolves distress through targeted interventions aimed at impactful thoughts and memories. EMDR is not just for trauma. Research has suggested EMDR can be beneficial for anxiety, depression, eating disorders, phobias, different personality organisations, and more. I can offer EMDR in-person and online.

Additionally, I work using the Rewind Technique. Also known as 'closure without disclosure', the Rewind Technique is an NHS-approved therapy for resolving impactful memories, usually in around 1-3 sessions. I completed my training with the International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy (IARTT). I am also trained in using psychodrama, which is a more creative way of engaging in therapy for people who may struggle with words.

Another way I work is using parts. Based on techniques underlying therapies such as Internal Family Systems, parts work enables us to understand the different ways we work with and against ourselves. The aim of parts work is to understand different aspects of ourselves, develop compassion towards these parts, and learn to work harmoniously with these parts to relieve distress and address the reasons why you sought therapy.

Additional services

As well as providing individual psychotherapy, I run workshops and provide tailored services for organisations. I deliver practical training to improve cohesion within and across teams. I also run informational training sessions with organisations around mental health and wellbeing. My bespoke one-on-one and group sessions cover topics such as journalling, personal development, and mindfulness.

Regardless of what you bring, as an individual or organisation, I offer safety, warmth and empathy so you can explore issues you choose to bring with confidence. Whether we work short-term or long-term, a trusting relationship between you and I is central to a successful therapeutic experience. If you would like to see if we can work together, please contact me by email, telephone, or by using the booking page on my website.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications are as follows:

  • PhD in Psychology
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • BSc (Hons) Psychology
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Level 2 Certificate in Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism

I have worked with mental health issues of varying presentations since 2013. I have worked in the community and in NHS psychiatric units, and have volunteered for various emotional support and mental health charities. I continue volunteering, which is a privilege and allows me to be involved in creating long-lasting systemic change for issues people bring to me in my private practice, helping me help people at an individual and societal level.

Being a Chartered Psychologist and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), I ensure my work is to the highest standard. This involves keeping abreast on current issues and developments in the field of Psychology. Further information

I understand the difficulty in choosing to come to therapy, let alone who your therapist should be. I offer a free initial consultation so you can make a careful decision around who you would like to share the load with. I can offer the space you need to take stock of where you are in life and where you would like to be, so we can get there together. If we agree we would like to work together, each session will be 50 minutes, and will be chargeable at our agreed rate.

If you would like to book an initial consultation, please email me or use the booking/enquiry form on Counselling Directory webpage or my website. You can also call my mobile and leave a voicemail with your name and telephone number and I will return your message. If you are a group or an organisation, please submit an enquiry and I will respond to you as soon as I can.

Please note, there is currently limited availability for the Canterbury, Folkestone and Margate clinics. If you are looking for in-person therapy, please feel free to make an enquiry and we can see if we can find a mutually convenient time slot. I can also offer online sessions until an in-person slot becomes available.
