Training, qualifications & experience

The goal of every therapist is to provide a safe and supportive space for all their clients, regardless of their background or personal experiences.

My training as a BACP registered counsellor has equipped me with a diverse range of skills and experience, including work with children, young people and adults.

In my therapy practice, I specialise in multicultural/difference counselling, intergenerational trauma, and parenting. I am passionate about these areas and work collaboratively with my clients to help them explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, in a warm and non-judgmental environment. Working together to develop strategies for coping and healing that are tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals.

I am committed to my personal and professional development, so that my practice will continue to offer you empathy, respect, and inclusivity, and I believe that each individual has the capacity for growth and healing - myself included!

If you have any questions or would like to know more about my approach and the range of issues that I have experience with, please get in touch. I look forward to working with you on your journey towards wellness and personal growth.

About My Practice

In my practice, I approach therapy from a person-centered and humanistic perspective, recognising that each individual's experiences and needs are unique. I believe in taking a personalised and holistic approach to growth, and work collaboratively with clients to achieve their goals.

As an integrative therapist, I may suggest incorporating other therapeutic approaches, and theories depending on each client's individual needs and preferences. My approach is flexible and tailored to meet the needs of each individual, and I strive to create a warm and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore their feelings and experiences.

As a relational therapist, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a crucial component of the healing process. Being in-tune with your therapist is a key aspect of positive therapeutic outcomes! I encourage openness, transparency and authenticity with my clients.

My first session:

During our first consultation, we will ask complete a brief assessment that consists of ten questions. This assessment is designed to help me understand some of the challenges you may be experiencing and how they may be affecting you.

Together, we will discuss your responses to the assessment questions, and try to gain a deeper understanding of what this is like for you personally. I will always take time to listen to your concerns and goals for therapy.

In the second part of our first session, we will focus on establishing a therapeutic plan that is tailored to your needs. This plan may be a short-term or more long-term plan, depending on your personal needs. We will discuss the therapeutic approach we will be using, as well as any general principles or ideas about how you work best.

The first session is an important opportunity for us to get to know each other and establish a strong therapeutic relationship. I will encourage open communication and collaboration throughout our work together, and will strive to provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment for you to share your experiences and thoughts. I look forward to working with you towards your personal growth.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I work in a person-centred way and connect heavily with humanistic philosophy. I believe that everyone deserves a personalised and holistic approach to their needs because our experiences and how we process them are so varied.

As an integrative therapist, I may suggest integrating other approaches into the work we do - such as CBT, Gestalt or Creative therapy techniques.

As a relational therapist, I believe that working collaboratively enables us to work towards the best solutions for you.
