About me

Samantha Kim - Robinson:

Integrative Counselling and Therapy PGDip MBACP, MBPSs

I practice as an Integrative relational therapist in Forest Gate, working with adults (18+) for both short-term and long- term therapy in private practice.

There are times in our lives when we could all benefit from some support. Meeting life challenges, especially in times of change or uncertainty, can feel easier with help.  I create a safe, comfortable and confidential space where you can begin to explore and make sense of your emotional experiences.  I bring warmth, understanding and a non-judgemental attitude. I aim to work in both a creative and pragmatic way.

I work from the position that each person, story, and set of concerns is unique and so there is no one model that fits all. I adapt my way of working to suit your needs drawing on a range of approaches and theories including humanistic, psychodynamic, self-psychology and mindfulness. Fundamentally though, I consider the relationship that both therapist and client build and create together to lie at the heart of healing and change. The relationship itself is central to my practice. As a relational therapist I pay attention to the developing therapeutic relationship, encouraging open and honest communication about the relationship as it develops.

Through in-depth conversation with another person and the time and space to be with and share what is troubling you, I believe that therapy can be a creative, empowering and liberating process and a journey of self-discovery. Aims of therapy can be to improve people’s sense of well-being, alleviate distress, resolve concerns, increase capacity to problem-solve, build resilience and make decisions.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
