About me
“Being rooted within ourselves, we have greater freedom to rise into who we were always meant to be.”
A warm welcome to Root and Rise Therapy Practice with me, Saffy. I deeply believe that disconnection lies at the heart of much of what can make life feel unsatisfying. We can become disconnected from our bodies, our emotions, from ourselves and others, and sometimes from life itself.
Root and Rise Therapy offers a peaceful space to pause and focus on yourself, surrounded by nature in a cosy, calming setting. This space holds a welcoming environment for individuals wanting to step away from the pressures of everyday life, explore internal challenges and find lasting change.
My approach is grounded in an understanding of the whole person, from head to toe. I pay attention to the ways our bodies experience and respond to the world, how unprocessed emotions can become held within us, and how these experiences can continue to shape the way we live. Root and Rise Therapy offers a space to begin reconnecting with these parts of ourselves that have been silenced or gradually lost over time.
"First we find your roots, then you rise"
I am passionate about finding ways to affectively regulate the body, mind and emotions for each client while also working with a relational perspective in mind. Recognising the profound influence of our early attachments on the self that develops over time. I place great importance on the power of the unconscious, and how it can shape the behaviours, beliefs and patterns that may limit us without us even realising it.
Together, we can begin to explore these patterns with compassion, bringing greater awareness to what may have previously felt difficult to understand. My aim is not simply to understand where these patterns come from, but to create the possibility for something new to grow and lasting change to be made.
The name Root and Rise reflects the philosophy at the heart of my practice. I believe that when we gently turn towards our roots with curiosity, compassion and courage, we begin to understand how our experiences have shaped us. As we honour where we have come from, we create space for growth and a deeper connection with ourselves, others and life itself.
“You can carry the past without letting it carry you.”

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a UK-qualified therapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I trained at The Counselling Foundation, completing the Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling and the Diploma 1, 2 & 3 in Contemporary Psychodynamic Counselling. I'm a registered member of the BACP (membership 01053147), working within their Ethical Framework for good practice.
I also have previous experience working in the mental health field at the charity Mind. Supporting people from a range of backgrounds and with varied experiences has helped me develop a grounded, client-centred approach and increased my capacity in working with complexity. Now I run my own private practice, Root and Rise Therapy, offering both online and in person sessions for those wanting to find change somewhere in their lives.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
