About me
I am an experienced Principal Clinical Psychologist and trauma specialist. Alongside my private practice I have run an NHS trauma clinic in North London for the past seven years. Having a specific trauma focus in both my NHS and private practice allows me to offer specialist and high quality therapeutic input.
I have expertise in assessing adults who have survived traumatic experiences; particularly rape, sexual assault, birth trauma, childhood abuse, domestic violence and the effects of living in conflict and war zones. Traumatic events can cause individuals to experience a range of difficulties in their everyday life, such as intrusive memories and flashbacks, difficulties sleeping, difficulties managing strong emotions such as anxiety, guilt, shame and anger and difficulties in relationships. I am experienced at helping individuals think about how the traumatic experiences they survived have affected their lives, and how therapy can help get them back to where they would like to be.
Therapy can also help us to see how our very earliest relationships with our caregivers have shaped the relationships we go on to develop as adults. It can help us to see where our strengths lie, and can support us to change things that are no longer serving us.
As a first step, I can offer a free brief telephone consultation to discuss your goals for seeking therapy. Following this, we would meet for an assessment session where I can hear more about you, the difficulties you are experiencing and your hopes for the work. I offer online, weekly therapy sessions. I tend to see people for short and medium-term therapy, dependent on needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) from University College London over 13 years ago. Alongside my private practice I hold the position of Principal Clinical Psychologist and lead an NHS trauma service in north London.
I am an accredited EMDR Practitioner (Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) and have experience and training in trauma-focused CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy and Narrative Exposure Therapy. I am currently training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT).
I have extensive experience working with complex difficulties and developing integrative treatment plans tailored to your needs. This may include trauma-focused models (as outlined above) and also incorporate ideas from therapies such as DBT, Mindfulness, Mentalisation Based Therapy and ACT.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
