About me
I’m a qualified integrative * counsellor and psychotherapist based in Central and East Bristol, offering sessions in person, via video, and on the phone, whatever feels most comfortable and workable for you.
The reasons people come to therapy are varied. Sometimes it’s quite vague-an unsettled feeling that’s hard to pin down, maybe feeling a bit lost. Other times, it’s clearer-cut; a transition, a relationship, an issue that’s become all-consuming and disruptive.
For me, therapy is something we figure out together. It’s important that I understand your life as you actually experience it, including the parts that feel messy, complicated, or difficult to say out loud . If things feel confusing or contradictory, that’s often where the useful work begins.
Together we might look at emotions, shed light on different aspects of your experiences, notice recurring patterns in relationships, or explore the stories you’ve carried about yourself over time. I’m interested in the relationship you have with yourself-the tone you use internally, the parts you hide and what might shift if that relationship became more curious. We’ll go at your pace, following what feels most present and meaningful.
* Integrative therapy just means that I choose which models of therapy to draw from depending on the person in front of me and what they bring.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy and have completed additional training, particularly in emotions, mindfulness, and therapeutic writing - tools I also value in my own life for self-exploration and staying grounded.
I’ve worked with a wide range of people and experiences and bring awareness of how identity, background, and social context shape how we perceive ourselves and are perceived by others. Alongside early relationships and family dynamics, I’m interested in wider cultural, societal, and intergenerational influences on how we make sense of our lives.
Abortion
I have several years’ experience therapeutically supporting women before and after abortion, and I understand how complex and layered the emotions around this experience can be. Through this work, I've sat with women from many different social, cultural and religious backgrounds as they navigate their beliefs, their relationship to themselves, their families and their communities.
Creativity/ Therapeutic Writing
I love ways of working that help people to explore their inner world with depth and creativity. This may include introducing metaphor and symbolism as we talk, or bringing in imagination. If it resonates with you, I can offer therapeutic writing exercises to do in between sessions, or to workshop as part of your session.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
