About me

Hi I'm Rachel. I am a Psychotherapist offering support to adults, children and young people (aged 7+) as well as families and couples.

**Current availability – Monday and Thursday appointments, in person or online. Locations Harrogate and Ilkley**

I offer a safe and confidential space where the unspeakable is welcomed. Our relationship is an integral part of our work together. I will aim to support you in exploring and processing your experiences, internal conflicts and the external challenges of life to help you gain personal awareness and bring new perspectives and insight.

My areas of expertise are in helping people to process historical or recent traumas, including childhood sexual abuse, rape, abandonment issues, deeply held shame, suicidal feelings, bereavement and loss, or navigating a way through complex relationships.

I am also a qualified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapist, which can be a useful tool when used alongside talking therapy. EMDR helps to distract the mind allowing more challenging emotions to be processed more quickly, reducing the extent of emotional distress.

I offer a bespoke service and I can be flexible in my approach. I work with individuals, couples, families, parents and children separately and/or together as required.

I work face to face, online and outdoors where appropriate and helpful. I work long and short term according to need. Sessions are 50, 75 or 90 minutes according to the type and depth of work undertaken. How we work would be discussed and agreed in the initial assessment session and reviewed as we go along.

Choosing a therapist can be an overwhelming decision to make. It is important that I am the right person for you. I offer a no obligation 15-minute phone call to discuss what has brought you to seeking therapy and to give you an opportunity to decide if we are compatible.

Information for young people:

Counselling is a confidential space where we can talk about anything you would like. Nothing is out of bounds, there is no right or wrong and our conversations will stay between us. Talking about feelings isn’t always easy, so creative ways to explore can be used instead. We can use sand tray, drawing, writing and emotion cards. The aim will be to help you feel better and sometimes talking to someone who is not a relative or a friend can be the answer. I work within the perimeters of The Children Act (2004).

My Response to you:

I aim to respond to your enquiry within 2 working days. Please check your spam/junk email if you have not heard within this time frame.
