About me
Life at times can be challenging for many different reasons, due to what is happening now, what has happened in the past or might happen the future.
For instance, losses of many kinds and significant life changes can leave us shaken, making us loose track of ourselves or causing us to feel somewhat stuck. By deciding that something needs to shift in your life and seeking support, you have taken significant steps towards achieving positive change.
As an integrative counsellor, I am delighted to offer you a warm and welcoming non-judgemental space in which to explore the issues you are struggling with in your life.
I will work with you at your own pace, in a tailored way that best suits your needs and goals. When relevant, we may use creative ways such as images, work sheets, stones and drawings to help explore how you see and feel about what you share in the sessions.
We will review how the sessions are going for you periodically so that you can benefit from the sessions as much as possible.
Investing in ourselves through therapy takes time, energy and commitment. It might take walking through some difficult roads such as when challenging topics emerge, yet we will navigate through them together.
We will be working step by step towards uncovering the fountain of life, which to you might mean relief to suppressed pain, resentment or anger, a deeper sense of inner freedom and growth in self-confidence.
It may also mean becoming less burdened, less caught up in feelings of guilt or shame, learning to be more authentic, being more aware of unhelpful responses or behaviour, having more peace, contentment and joy, being more open to love, having better relationships or other positive changes.
A rich return on your investment. This is my hope for every client I work with.
Training, qualifications & experience
BA (Hons), DipHE in Counselling
I am an integrative counsellor which means I draw on different counselling theories such as Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Attachment Theory, depending on what best suits the client.
I work with clients to address a range of issues such as anxiety, work-related stress, grief, depression, low self-esteem, history of abusive relationships, challenges of autism in the family, the impact of chronic illness, issues with parenting and culture related stress.
I attend regular supervision and take part in continual professional development CPD courses as part of my membership of professional bodies such as the BACP and ACC which also feeds my expanding interests. For instance, I have a growing interest in neuroscience, how our brain health impacts our mental health and what it means to take good care of our brains.
I also have an interest in working with dreams, particularly in how they can be a window into our deeper thoughts and feelings.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
