About me

I work with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, life crises and difficulties in relationships. Many of the people who come to me place high demands on themselves, find it difficult to rest or set boundaries, or notice that earlier experiences continue to affect their relationships and everyday life. I also work with the effects of relational trauma and difficult childhood experiences.

My approach is integrative, drawing primarily on humanistic, existential and relational psychotherapy, alongside an understanding of trauma, emotions and the nervous system.

Rather than asking only, “What is wrong?”, I am often more interested in another question: “Why might this way of responding once have been necessary?”

Anxiety, withdrawal, the need for control, difficulty asking for help or taking excessive responsibility can sometimes be understood as ways of adapting to earlier experiences. Understanding where these patterns come from can help us explore whether they are still needed today.

The therapeutic relationship is an important part of my work. Therapy is not about telling you what to do or making decisions for you. I see my role as being alongside you while you develop a better understanding of yourself, your experiences and the direction you want to take.

You do not need to know exactly what is happening or where to begin before your first session. Sometimes it is enough to know that the ways you have coped until now are no longer working as they once did.

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. I offer online psychotherapy and Walk & Talk sessions in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. I currently work with Polish-speaking clients only.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an integrative psychotherapist and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I have over 5,000 hours of clinical experience working therapeutically with people experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, addiction, emotional crises, relational trauma and the effects of difficult childhood experiences.

I completed four years of psychotherapy training and postgraduate training in addiction therapy and codependency. My additional professional training includes adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), anxiety and depression, suicidal crisis, personality disorders, psychosis and schizophrenia, sexual violence, and counselling and therapy with children and young people.

My experience includes therapeutic work within organisations in the UK, including PPA Cambridge and WDP (now Via), as well as private practice. I have been working therapeutically since 2019 and in private practice since 2021.

I am also a Practitioner Member of Addiction Professionals.

My original academic background is in Environmental Protection, and before becoming a psychotherapist I worked in several different professional settings and ran my own business in the UK. This broader life and professional experience continues to influence the way I understand people in the context of their relationships, environments and life circumstances.

I undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development as part of my practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I have lived in the UK for over a decade and understand some of the experiences that can accompany living away from your country of origin - including questions of belonging, identity, relationships, family and building a life between different cultures.

Alongside online psychotherapy, I offer Walk & Talk sessions in Hertfordshire for people who prefer therapeutic conversations while walking in a natural environment.

The first session is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy and to see whether my way of working feels right for you. There is no obligation to continue.
