About me

Hi, I'm Ollie, a CBT/EMDR therapist/supervisor with 14 years experience. I specialise in OCD, Trauma/PTSD, Phobias, Anxiety and Depression. I'm trained in Tik disorders, Psychedelic Integration and Gambling Addiction. My passion is seeing clients regain their joie de vivre, overcome their fears and retake control of their lives. I'm authentic, down to earth, honest and transparent. To be congruent as therapists, we need to own ourselves - It's vital to therapy - Being relatable, being present, being there.

Marcus Aurelius once said: “You have power over your mind, not external events - Know this and you will find strength”

This is CBT in a nutshell. It's about acknowledging the unhelpful ways you may think, behave and feel, which actually keep a problem going. Our aim is to find ways of breaking the downward spiral, or allowing you to escape the whirlpool and breathe again. CBT is an open, collaborative and practical process of discovering what works for you.

We will work creatively to integrate a style and treatment that suits you and your needs. I integrate many different therapeutic styles within the overarching model, as I believe when applied safely and whilst recognising limitations, it is not the model which is dogma but an integration of the skills, theory, individual relationship and space which garners real change. In short - Be curious. CBT is all about actively taking charge of your life. This takes courage and compassion - And I'm here to help you every step of the way.

EMDR is a specific treatment developed to remedy trauma, in the context of distressing images, physical sensations, flashbacks, body memory, thoughts, beliefs and behaviors. It has proven effective in management across depressive, anxious, phobic, traumatized, addicted and dysregulated presentations. Please send a message if you would like further information on this treatment.

An important aspect of the work I engage with is that it is collaborative and empirical. My aim is to work with you and alongside you to support you toward your goals in an empathic and equal sense. This means I won't simply active listen, but rather I will seek to stand alongside you and offer any perspectives and ideas that I believe are true and relevant to the therapeutic space that we hold together. Equally, I'm open to this space forever unfolding and recognize the neither of us know the answer fully right now, but that we are committed to working towards it together.

Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss further -I look forward to helping you unlock the life you want and deserve to live.

Further information

I am neurodivergent - adhd and nvld. I was diagnosed late. I am flexible and adaptive to the needs of neurodiversity and disability. I have a wealth of experience with long term conditions, autism and adhd, dyslexia and dyspraxia, dementia and LD. I have worked specifically with those with menieres and panic, colitis and IBS, ME, MS, diabetes and cancer and have adapted treatment wherever necessary and possible.

I have worked across many demographics - in CAMHS from age 6 to 17, in prison setting, community youth, older adults, drug services l, outreach, inpatient and a personality disorder service.

I have personal experience of mental health difficulties in the past and although I do not disclose my personal narrative within sessions, this certainly informs my practice and how i may relate to my clients.

Although i am biologically a man, I identify as gender neutral specifically as i believe that we should be free to present as ourselves rather than bound by societies expectation of gender. I aim to challenge expectations of men and women within the systems of patriarchal and performative dialogue.

I am specifically interested in the relational model, honesty and humour within therapy, radical acceptance, feminism and masculinity in a therapeutic setting, therapists in therapy, community engagement, shame and psychedelics/spiritualism. Specifically my expertise lie in PTSD, OCD and Panic. I get out of the therapy room as much as possible - walking, ecotherapy, ritual work, animals and spiritual practice. Within session i encourage holistic growth and create strong transparent and human relationships whilst supporting clients to iterate, grow and find their own answers so that ultimately they have the strength to confront their problems alone. This is deeply enriching and rewarding and is why i do what i do.
