About me

Hello, I'm Michelle

I am a qualified integrative counsellor with a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that each person has the capacity for growth and healing. I work from a person-centred perspective, which places you—the client—at the heart of the process. I believe that, given the right supportive and non-judgmental environment, you can explore your own thoughts and feelings, and find your path forward.

My role as your counsellor is to provide empathy, understanding, and unconditional positive regard, creating a safe space where you can explore your emotions and experiences at your own pace. Together, we can work through whatever challenges you are facing, whether that’s anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, or personal development.

If you are navigating a life change, dealing with emotional challenges, or simply seeking a space to be heard and understood, I am here to support you on your journey toward self-discovery and resolution.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a trained person-centred experiential therapist who values the therapeutic relationship and each client's unique perspective. My approach emphasises empathy, active listening, and unconditional positive regard, creating a safe environment for clients to explore their feelings and thoughts.

I specialise in helping individuals navigate emotional challenges, build self-esteem, and improve interpersonal skills. By fostering open communication and encouraging self-expression, I empower clients to gain clarity and resilience. My goal is to support each person's journey of self-discovery and personal development, helping them achieve meaningful growth and well-being.

Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of experience in different settings:

Mind and the Listening Ear Program: In these roles, I provided emotional support to individuals facing mental health challenges, offering them a confidential and supportive environment to process their feelings.

Macmillan Cancer Support: I supported clients navigating the emotional and psychological impacts of living with cancer, helping them to manage grief, anxiety, and uncertainty.

Healthcare Settings: Before these roles, I spent several years working within healthcare, which deepened my understanding of the emotional complexities that come with physical illness and health challenges.

These diverse experiences have helped shape my therapeutic approach, enabling me to work effectively with a wide range of emotional and mental health concerns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
