About me

I’m a fully qualified integrative counsellor and coach. I help individuals and couples who want more than traditional counselling or coaching can offer alone, providing a safe and confidential space for exploration and growth. Working together, we can explore current and past difficulties, and I can also offer you opportunities to look forward, learning and applying unique tools to tackle whatever the future brings. Working this way allows meaningful healing and lasting change to be achieved. We are all unique and there is no ‘one size fits all’ model - I will always work with you as an individual. I work with people not problems!

I can’t promise the process will always be easy, but I can offer a respectful, confidential and non-judgemental environment to explore whatever life has thrown your way. I understand that the decision to come to counselling requires courage. Facing ourselves and our difficulties is never an easy task.

To be able to explore overwhelming feelings without feeling judged requires trust to be present and building a strong therapeutic relationship is central to my approach. Together we will explore your difficulties and move forward towards meaningful change and growth in your life.

Opening up to someone outside of your friends and family circle can be helpful to see things from a different perspective. The confidentiality and non-judgemental approach offered at the heart of therapy means you can feel free to explore even the most difficult feelings, allowing you to feel seen and heard.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a PgDip in Integrative Counselling and Coaching from the University of East London, and am a registered member of the BACP, abiding by their ethical guidelines.

I am trained in Emotionally Focussed Couples therapy, and use their attachment based approach with my couples work to bring deep and meaningful change to relationships.

I work with the Personal Consultancy model, which is a framework combining counselling (to rebalance) and coaching (enabling growth) techniques. It offers structure to therapeutic practice that allows scope for you to explore, identify, restore and bring long-lasting change. It is a map to navigate through your journey; building strong foundations along with skills and courage to achieve your aspirations.

Metaphorically speaking, counselling can be seen as strengthening the foundations of a house whereas coaching is working on the house itself.

The main areas of my work are with anxiety, depression, trauma, identity, self esteem, relationship and family issues and bereavement. I also have experience working with postnatal women struggling with anxiety, depression and adjustment issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
