About me

The New Normal

As we endeavour to return to "normality" we might find that we are sort of 'out of sink with ourselves', with others and may be with the new rhythm that our lives might need to take.

The ripples of the realities of the last year are still with us and will be for some time to come. Loss and grief still need to be attended to and honoured as a tender wound in need of nurture.

You might feel like ‘this is scary, I am not used to this anymore, I have lost my centre'. You might be experiencing a huge sense of overwhelmed, new and old anxieties might come to the surface along with a sense of disorientation, confusion and feeling lost in the new reality. These are all natural responses to the process of readjusting back to our social lives. You might not even want to re-engage with this new reality that is presented to you. Or you might be yearning for connection, bonding, familiarity and desperately wanting to get back to the things you missed during this last year that you might feel irritable, impatient and even angry.

During this re-adjusting anxiety and apprehension might highly increase along with panic attacks, claustrophobia, fear, worrying, obsessive thinking, ritualistic behaviour and anger. These might be some of the experiences you are going through at the moment.

If you need specific support in these times please email or phone me. I will support you to find ways of dealing with all that you might be experiencing right now. While we might also look at the new possibilities for growth, healing, excitement and joy inherent in the unknown.

In our initial consultation and in collaboration we will look at what your needs are and get a sense of each other to see if we can embark on this work together.

About you

Do you want to feel your spontaneity, creativity and aliveness?

Do you want to feel safe in your body and in your mind?

Do you want to feel confident in social situations?

Do you want to feel joy?

Do you want to connect and embody your power and authority?

Do you want to find your path in life and connect with your inner strength and inner potential?

If you feel you have difficulty with some of the experiences I describe above it might be related to you suffering from generalised anxiety, crippling anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, sadness, depression, difficulty in relationships, low self esteem and many other experiential states.

I will support you on your journey to access all you have been longing for. I will do this by being a constant, attentive and attuned presence, a source of unconditional holding, a witness to your loneliness, a companion to your pain. I will with the support of embodied experiments and techniques, metaphors, visualisations, dream work, empathic listening and focusing support you to connect with your self, with whatever you feel in the moment and have been running away from that might be unbearable, painful and terrifying to experience and is causing you so much anxiety and suffering.

I will help you to develop a more attuned awareness about what moves you, the reasons you act the way you do and the steps you need to take in order for you to create the change you need and want.

I will do this by establishing with you a therapeutic relationship based on dialogue and a relational stance based on trust, cooperation, genuine communication, creativity, exploration and compassion. One of the skills that I bring to the therapeutic process is a fine developed empathic attunement to people's experiences and a deep intuition into the process of feeling. I will support you to develop the necessary awareness you need to come up with your genuine solutions to your conflicts and fears. I will support you to discover the meaning of your anxiety and from there discover what you do to stay in that anxious/fearful place and what you can do to do things differently.

The first steps will be for us to establish a safe space so that you can start to feel you can risk being open to your experiences. I will provide you with a confidential space for you to unfold your unique potential.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

One of my personal interests is in supporting people who might suspect or see themselves as a Highly Sensitive Person. In my practice I invite explorations on the inherent wisdom of grief as a catalyst for change and new beginnings along with working with the interface between psychotherapy and spiritual growth.

Additional information

I offer short term and long term Psychotherapy

Please contact me by mail or phone. If by mail I normally suggest to have a brief phone conversation to discuss availability and any other relevant queries.

The way I practice is to offer an initial session to talk about what brings you to therapy, what you might need, would like to achieve and get a sense of whether we can work together. If we both are happy to start this journey together I will then suggest we have weekly sessions, which will last 50 minutes.

My fees are £70 for 50 minutes.

When I work

I see clients during the day and in the evenings.

Further information

I charge for initial sessions. The reason for this is that first sessions may have a profound impact on you, sometimes initiating a process of change, which can be very cathartic and healing for some people especially if for whatever circumstances you have not had the experience of being deeply met and accepted by another person.
