About me

Types of Therapy and How I Practice

As an integrative therapist, I draw from various humanistic and psychodynamic approaches in order to personalise therapy and meet your needs from a holistic perspective. These include Person-Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Existentialism and Pluralism.

Although I am trained as an integrative therapist, a Person-Centred approach is at the core of my practice. Essentially, this works on the principle that you are the expert on yourself. You know what's best for you and I support you in finding solutions.

Creativity within Sessions

There are many issues that counselling can help with and not all of these are identifiable by a label. You might be going through something that's particularly difficult to put into words and it's frustrating because you can't find a way to communicate it. I welcome creativity within sessions. So this may include using colours, shapes and patterns to draw an emotion or to tune in to an underlying emotion. We may create spider-grams to help explore ideas and discover the root cause of an emotion.

How long?

We can set a short-term date to your therapy sessions, a long-term date, or we can leave it entirely open ended with regular reviews. You may decide you only need a few sessions to work through something that has recently come up for you and that you can manage after a short while. Whatever is decided at the start, if things change for you at any time and you would like to either finish or extend therapy, then I can adapt to what you feel you need. Therapy is about you!

Frequency

Sessions last for 50 minutes and are usually weekIy, although there is some flexibility around schedules if needed and fortnightly sessions can also be beneficial. I do hold some fortnightly slots for those who cannot commit to weekly due to financial constraints or other circumstances and commitments, so please ask.

Booking

I offer a free 15 minute phone or video call if you would like a chat or to ask any questions. Alternatively, you are welcome to book a full session.

If you are looking for a compassionate and goal-orientated therapist, I am here to support you on your journey towards healing and personal growth and I look forward to meeting you.
