About me

Sometimes life can appear to be going well on the outside, while inside things feel very different. You may be experiencing anxiety, sadness, grief, relationship difficulties, a life transition, or simply a sense of feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself. You may not even know exactly what is wrong – only that something doesn't feel right.

Deciding to reach out and ask for help is not always easy, but taking that first step toward feeling better is both important and courageous.

I believe meaningful therapy begins with connection. I aim to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental relationship where you can feel heard and understood, without pressure to provide the 'right' answers or be anything other than yourself. I offer counselling sessions to adults in person, online, or by telephone.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a First Class BA (Hons) in Relational Integrative Counselling from Middlesex University. My integrative practice draws on relational, humanistic, psychodynamic, existential and body-oriented approaches, allowing me to adapt therapy to you rather than expecting you to fit a particular model.

I have a particular interest in: relationships, especially mother-daughter relational dynamics, identity, attachment, and life transitions. I am passionate about supporting women experiencing challenges around intimate relationships, blended families, parenting, empty nest syndrome, health, work, menopause and changes in their sense of self. I also welcome men seeking support with their own emotional and relationship difficulties.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent 12+ years working in educational settings, where I gained extensive experience working with adolescents and university students, who I greatly enjoy working with. I have knowledge of special educational needs like dyslexia, AS, autism and global difficulties and the impact they can have on the whole family.

Alongside my professional training, my own life experiences have shaped the therapist I have become. These experiences don't mean I know how your life feels – your experience is uniquely yours. They have, however, taught me humility, sensitivity and the importance of listening without assumptions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
