About me

In my counselling experience, I have worked with adults and young people in short and long-term therapy.  I am incredibly passionate about my work and I will bring this energy and genuine interest to our sessions.

I strongly value and prioritise co-creating a genuine and honest therapeutic relationship with my clients.  This is the foundation of any work we will do together.  I will endeavour to understand life and the world as YOU see it.  I will never put any opinions or expectations upon you, and I welcome the full truth and weight of what you choose to share.

I will hold a safe and rock-steady space for you and the full range of your thoughts, emotions and being. We will approach your individual hopes for counselling with curiosity, compassion and courage.

I have witnessed and walked through life's darkest corners and fear-filled obscured paths.  I have done this for myself and with others on their own journeys.  There is always potential and hope to be found - the process is unique and distinctive every time.  In this process, my role is to guide, encourage, challenge, explore, empathise and hold a space that is yours.

If you would like to see what this could look like for you, please feel free to reach out to arrange an initial conversation.  This is a toe-dip and not a plunge.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been trained in a therapeutic approach called Integrative Humanistic counselling. My counselling practice comprises an integration of Person-Centred, Gestalt and Existential modalities, and the basis of all my work is a strongly valued relational approach. I offer counselling in person, online and on the telephone.  I have worked with adults and young people (14+) in short and long-term therapy.

My special areas of interest are trauma, depression, identity, neurodivergence, anxiety and all anxiety-rooted disorders, relationships/family issues, attachment and loss in all forms including abortion and estrangement.  I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of issues and with a diverse clientele.  Difference between us is welcomed and met with empathy and authenticity.

I also have experience working with and having the privilege of witnessing the growth and healing of people who live with severe mental health difficulties, reliance on substance use and victims of current and historical abuse.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
