About me
Online and face-to-face Counselling Services from my private practice on George Street, Edinburgh, specialising in supporting women’s mental wellbeing so that you can live with more balance, ease and happiness.
How I Work
At the heart of my practice is the creation of a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. I will show you warmth, empathy and acceptance.
As a pluralistic counsellor, I believe there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I am trained in a number of approaches including, but not limited to, person-centred counselling, psychodynamic psychotherapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). We can work together in a variety of ways depending on what you need:
- Exploring Your Current Experiences: Maybe having a safe, non-judgmental space to talk through your current feelings and experiences is exactly what you need.
- Looking at the Past: Or you may wish to explore past events, including your childhood, to better understand how those experiences shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours today.
- Learning Tools and Techniques: You may prefer a more practical approach, focusing on strategies to manage daily challenges like anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or overwhelming emotions. These might include relaxation or mindfulness techniques, journaling prompts, or cognitive strategies.
In all likelihood, our work will involve a little bit of all of this and probably more. My style is flexible and responsive to your preferences and needs, and our work together is always a partnership. Together, we’ll explore what’s most important to you and find the approach that works best for you.
And if you’re not sure what you want or need right now, that’s okay - we’ll figure it out together.
Who I Work With
My passion and expertise lie in supporting women throughout life’s transitions, including but not limited to the emotional complexities of:
- Deciding to have a baby
- Trying to conceive
- Infertility investigations and diagnoses
- Becoming childless not by choice
- Fertility treatments - including IVF, ICSI, IUI
- Pregnancy loss and miscarriage
- Pregnancy - the emotional and physical challenges, prenatal depression and anxiety
- Birth - fear of birth, birth planning (I am also a birth preparation educator), overcoming birth trauma
- Parenthood - postnatal depression/anxiety, intrusive thoughts, maternal rage, loss of identity, sleep issues, feeding issues
- Relationship challenges
Whether or not you resonate with any of the above, I welcome your enquiry if you think I could be the right counsellor for you. Ultimately, the expertise and training a counsellor has is less important than your sense of the relationship being a "good fit", so follow your instincts when choosing a therapist.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor with nearly 20 years of experience in mental health. I have a 1st Class Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Glasgow, and a Diploma in Pluralistic Counselling & Psychotherapy from Grounded Learning Ltd.
I have additional training in Fertility Counselling, Birth Trauma and Pregnancy and Postnatal Wellness, as well as LGBT+ Competency for Birth Workers through the Queer Birth Club.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
