About me
I offer Psychoanalytic psychotherapy to adults aged 18 and over. This in-depth form of talking therapy focuses on understanding emotional difficulties, and the patterns in how we relate to ourselves, our situations and others.
I have over 20 years clinical experience across the NHS and private practice where I continue to work part-time. I work with people experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational and health-related difficulties, including stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, loss, and concerns related to sexual health and well-being .
The therapy I provide is exploratory and less structured than short-term skills-based or solution-focused approaches. It focuses on developing greater and a deeper understanding of yourself, including patterns in thoughts, feelings and relationships, and how these have developed over time.
It may suit people who feel stuck in long-standing or repeated difficulties, as well as those dealing with sudden or recent events that feel hard to make sense of or adjust to.
The therapy is open-ended, with no fixed number of sessions, allowing it to develop at its own pace. Sessions are held weekly at a regular, agreed time. Alongside longer term-work, I also offer short-term focused therapy where this is appropriate for a specific issue or goal.
If you would like to explore whether this way of working might be right for you or would like to know more, you are welcome to get in touch with me by email. An initial session can be arranged to think together about whether this approach is suitable for what you are looking for, and how it feels to meet and work together.
Email here. Please include your name, age, location, and contact details, along with what brings you to therapy and whether seeking online or in-person sessions.
Thank you
Lisa

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
