About me

About me

Hello and welcome to my profile.

I am an Integrative counsellor. This means that I can draw from a wide range of approaches which will be unique for each client. Building a strong trusting therapeutic relationship will be the foundation upon which our exploration begins.

From here we will move forward discovering what is troublimg you.

This will enable us to work deeply and relationally to build understanding and awareness.

This will shift patterns relating to self and others and to life situations and challenges.

I will walk along side you on your journey wherever it may lead.

I believe and embrace that we are all unique in our differences.

I facilitate change by creating a safe nurturing warm enviroment where you can start to make sense of what is going on for you. This is your time and I will support you every step of the way. I will gently challenge you if I believe it will support your healing.

I am passionate about my work and through regular continuous professional development I keep up to date adding new ways of working with my clients to achieve the best possible outcomes.

I have a therapy room in Hythe and I offer days evening's and weekend sessions. On line or face to face.

If you are ready and would like to know more please get in touch. Please call or e-mail me and we can set up a time for an informal chat. Then you decide if you would like to continue.

I am warm friendly and approachable and would love to hear from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma In Integrative Counselling and I am a Registered Member of the BACP and an Accredited member of The National Counsellimg  abiding by the principles of their Ethical Framework.

Along side this I worked for 7 years as a counsellor for an organisation where women fleeing domestic violence sought refuge.

During this time I have had the privilege of working with women from different cultural backgrounds, some often marginalised in society. Working across the Trauma Continuum.

I have also had extensive experience working with children adolescence and adults as a foster carer for 14 years.

I have supervised the contact between children and their birth parents. I have been through the adoption process and have supported mum and baby and mum baby and dad placements.

This work has at times been incredibly painful but equally rewarding. I have learned so much along the way. Working with these vulnerable groups have taught me so much. Most having suffered Develpmental trauma so my most recent training has given me a much clearer and more up to date knowledge.

My most recent certificate training was:

Developmental Trauma, The seven areas of impact,

Sensory development

Dissociation

Attachment Development

Emotional Regulation

Behavioural Regulation

Cognition

Self Concept & Identity Development

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
