About me

Hello my name is Linda,

I am an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist, EMDR therapist, clinical supervisor and psycho-educationalist.

I am currently accepting short term client work for brief therapy and supervision clients, to work online, weekly, fortnightly or on a monthly basis.   I offer client work and supervision individually, in couples or in small groups.  I also supervise those that offer supervision to others.

I believe relationship is key to successful therapy, supervision or learning because it allows trust, respect and mutuality to build which results in having an open, safe space in which to work.

Sometimes having the opportunity to talk with someone impartial and independent is essential; friends, family or colleagues frequently offer fantastic support however they often have an investment in any outcomes you desire so are unable to offer a totally unbiased perspective or specialist support if you are feeling stuck in a painful place.

So, if you are feeling anxious, confused or in an unhappy place which seems never ending, lonely and difficult to manage or you are experiencing self doubt, miserableness, questioning and a sense of going around in circles is occurring come along and meet me for an initial assessment.

This will give us the opportunity to decide whether we want to start working together to explore any unconscious processes that might be upsetting you and creating unnecessary issues with regards to moving forward.

One of the key things with regard to counselling and psychotherapy is finding the right therapist for you, one you like and trust that is willing to work transparently, openly and honestly with you so you can feel free to explore new ways of being.

Remember it is important to ensure your therapist is experienced, skilled, well qualified and registered with a professional body.

Unfortunately, because our profession is currently unregulated you do need to be aware of unscrupulous practitioners so please checkout who you are planning to work with and consider selecting someone from a voluntary professional body register; two of the better known registers are held by UKCP or BACP.

What type of therapy/supervision/training I offer:

I use Transactional Analysis as my main model of therapy with a relational developmental integrative focus.  I have been working as a core tutor at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham for several years on the MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy which is also based around a relational development model.  I am also an EMDR therapist and have completed additional training in inter-generational trauma and the impact on current family systems  I am currently taking a sabbatical from training to write a psycho-educational program for parents based around all of these concepts.  Watch this space for further information.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Experience:

I am a qualified Psychotherapist, Trainer and Clinical Supervisor.

I have been working with clients since 2005 and have a wide level of experience in a range of services.

Whilst I was qualifying and building my private practice I found different ways in which to support myself which linked into my training and offered a wider range of understanding with regards to conflict and trauma.  I provided mediation and counselling services for Lincolnshire Counselling and Mediation Service this meant I worked on contracts with Lincolnshire Police, Children and Adult Social Services, County and District Councils, Housing Associations and local employers resulting in experiences of a different client base.  Additionally, I worked as a Counselling Lecturer at Lincoln College and as a Mentor for University students who experienced mental health issues.

I am an active participant in Continuing Professional Development, more recently qualifying as an EMDR therapist which as heightened my insight into trauma and ways of attending to it.

I recently attended Family Constellations Systemic Foundation Training in Bristol at the Centre for Systemic Constellations.  I am looking forward to attending the Applied training soon.  When this is complete I will be able to run Family Constellation groups.  This is a key way of looking into the impact of inter-generational trauma within individual family systems and its potential impact in the here and now for parents as well as children.  This work was founded by Bert Hellinger and is carried out in groups as well as opening individual insights .  Having experienced the work personally I can only report it provides amazing insights into issues that are stubborn to move or unresponsive to normal therapeutic interventions.  This work takes courage to be a part of and can result in enormous movements both physically and emotionally.

Once qualified my focus for clinical work was through private practice so when I became an endorsed teacher I wanted to be part of a team hence my work at the Sherwood Institute, having both settings helps me to offer clinical supervision through different lenses and levels of knowledge.  Therefore I work with students of counselling and psychotherapy as well as experienced, qualified practitioners.    Once again the models I offer are based on relational developmental concepts.
