About me

Hello my name is Linda,

I am an experienced psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and educationalist.

I am currently accepting psychotherapy and supervision clients, to work online, weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.   I offer client work and supervision individually, in couples/pairs or in small groups.

I believe relationship is key to successful therapy, supervision or learning because it allows trust, respect and mutuality to build which results in having an open, safe space to take risks with what you might be feeling most vulnerable about so you can chose to grow and develop more fully.

Sometimes having the opportunity to talk with someone impartial and independent is important.  On occasion we all benefit from specialist support or different perspective especially if we are feeling stuck in a painful place.

Feeling anxious, confused or in an unhappy place can seem never ending, lonely and difficult to manage.  Especially if you are experiencing self doubt, or a sense of going around in circles.

One of the key things with regard to counselling and psychotherapy is finding the right therapist for you, one you like and trust that is willing to work transparently, openly and honestly so you can feel free to explore new ways of being.  Psychotherapy can be as long or short an experience as you want it to be so please feel free to talk with me about this.

It is important to ensure your therapist is experienced, skilled, well qualified and registered with a professional body because your health and well being in all areas of your life deserve the best input you can afford; so be careful with your choices.

What type of therapy/supervision/training I offer:

My practice is based around three core models of theory; Transactional Analysis, Integrative and Systemic Constellations which means I have a wide range of tools to work flexibly with individuals, couples or groups.  I am also an EMDR therapist which brings an added layer of understanding if complex and inter-generational trauma issues are involved.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Experience:

I am a qualified Psychotherapist, Teacher and Clinical Supervisor.

I have been working with clients since 2005 and have a wide level of experience in a range of services.

Whilst I was qualifying in Transactional Analysis and building my private practice I found different ways in which to support myself and to find experience.  I looked for opportunities which linked with my training and offered a wider range of understanding with regards to conflict and trauma.  I provided mediation and counselling services for Lincolnshire Counselling and Mediation Service this meant I worked on contracts with Lincolnshire Police, Children and Adult Social Services, County and District Councils, Housing Associations and local employers resulting in a wide base of experience managing both individual and organisational issues.

Prior to training I worked for the MOD as a Budget Manager and Finance Trainer for 23 years so I brought a depth of organisational knowledge to the arena of therapy.

As I progressed through training I worked to develop my training skills too so I worked part time as a Counselling Lecturer at Lincoln College and as a Specialist Mentor for Lincoln University students.  Following qualification, I worked for 4 years at The Sherwood Institute in Nottingham.  I was a Core Tutor on their MSc Integrative Psychotherapy program, which enabled in depth knowledge of working with relational and developmental models.  As well as gaining knowledge of working in a training establishment which held systemic issues from founding and previous members.

I have always been an active participant in Continuing Professional Development, I am currently engaged in the third year of advanced training in Systemic Constellations and I qualified to run groups earlier this year.  This offers new insight into the impact of inter-generational trauma within individual family and organisational establishments. It helps us understand the impact of unresolved issues of grief and trauma in a system and its potential impact in the here and now for parents as well as children, employees as well as employers.  The idea of constellation work is to bring buried issues from our ancestors and founding establishment directors that remain unresolved to the surface so their impact can be understood in the here and now and ideas for resolution can be sought.  It is an incredibly healing and respectful process.  This work was founded by Bert Hellinger and is carried out in groups as well as  individually or in couples.

Having experienced the work personally I can only report it provides amazing insights into issues that might be hard to overcome, stubborn to move or unresponsive to normal therapeutic interventions.  This work takes courage to be a part of and openness to doing something different which can and does result in enormous movements forward physically, spiritually and emotionally.  It is incredibly exciting to be part of something that is new to many and to be in a position where I can introduce the concept to a wider community.

After my initial qualification my focus for clinical work was through private practice which can be lonely.  So I became an endorsed teacher because it felt important to work as part of a team too, hence my work at the Sherwood Institute, having both settings helped me to offer clinical supervision through different lenses and levels of knowledge.  Therefore I work with students of counselling and psychotherapy as well as experienced, qualified practitioners meaning I offer insights across all three modalities and can supervise supervision too.   I also offer academic supervision.
