About me

I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, which means that I am trained in and draw upon theories from the main schools of thought, and tailor my approach to the individual that you are.

I don’t believe in applying a particular method to you but rather endeavor to meet you where you are, and we go from there. This means that our rapport and therapeutic relationship is important as that is the grounds from which we work. I offer a 30 minute consultation, to go through any queries you may have about therapy and what brings you to it, and to see how you feel about the prospect of working with me.

I take a fundamentally developmental and trauma-informed approach, considering any challenges and issues that may arise in every aspect of human experience and self-image.  We can explore whatever you bring, such as but not limited to issues with self-esteem, relationship issues, trauma and abuse (of all kinds, for eg CPTSD and PTSD), identity issues, issues stemming from neurodivergence, issues around sexual orientation, sexual problems, anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders & loss.

I offer long-term exploratory work and more short–term focused counselling that can look at specific issues depending what your wants and goals are, and what is best for you. This is of course flexible and can be evaluated as we review our work periodically.

I am passionate and knowledgeable about the theories that I draw upon, as an integrative therapist I have studied the main schools (humanistic-existential, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural), and more integrative, contemporary theory such as working with nervous system dynamics, and somatically with the body. I am also interested in working creatively.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an BSc (Hons), an Advanced diploma & Certificate in integrative psychotherapeutic counselling, all from Matrix College of Counselling & Psychotherapy.

I attend regular supervision, and I am committed to my continuing professional development (CPD), and have ongoing weekly personal therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
