About me
I am a fully qualified and insured Integrative Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor with extensive experience working with young people (13+) and adults from a whole host of backgrounds and life experiences. My private practice is based in a very calm and peaceful setting directly opposite the River Dart and is fully wheelchair accessible.
I offer confidential face to face, online or phone sessions for teenagers and adults. Outside therapy is also available at 3 separate locations subject to a risk assessment. Sessions are 'open-ended' meaning that they go on for as long as you need them, and are tailored to your specific needs and ways of processing. In this way, working integratively can be very helpful as it means I can draw upon a multitude of different theoretical approaches that may suit you better than just one.
My office is also pet-friendly, so you're welcome to bring your furry friend with you if you find it helpful and they aren't too distracting.
All sessions only take place after an Initial Assessment has happened. This is where we meet for the first time and get a feel for whether or not this is the right place for you right now. You do not have to decide right there and then, you're always welcome to go away and think about it.
Training, qualifications & experience
My Background
My therapeutic career began in supporting 13-25 year olds with cancer and life limiting illnesses, as well as teaching in mainstream secondary education specifically with teenagers with social emotional behavioural and mental health difficulties and learning difficulties. I then moved into working within secure alternative provisions, specialising in trauma-informed care for extremely vulnerable and at-risk young people. I was trained in canine and equine-assisted therapy, THRIVE, and (as a certified Instructor) utilised aspects of traditional Chinese WuShu and mindfulness to help aid regulation. It was during this time that I retrained as a Level 4 Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor and also volunteered for 2 years at a local Psychotherapy CIC practice for adults. I opened up my private practice in 2019 where I have remained working with young people and adults on a one-to-one basis, as well as providing Clinical Supervision for helping professionals. I also provide trauma-informed self-defence tuition, traditional Chan (Zen) mindfulness breathing practice and meditation that can also aid somatic awareness and regulation.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
