About me
Seeking out therapy can be a daunting and overwhelming step, and I truly appreciate the courage it takes to reach out for support.
My name is Julia, and I am an integrative and relational psychotherapist, meaning I work flexibly with theory and approaches, based on your individual needs and goals and I value the therapeutic relationship as a fundamental factor in our work together.
I am committed to creating a safe, compassionate space for you to feel empowered to truly be yourself, without fear of judgement or unsolicited advice. By building a trusting and supportive partnership, we can work together to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Therapy is challenging by design, but as a client you deserve to feel comfortable with and supported by your therapist.
I have a keen interest in working with relationship difficulties. Maybe you’ve recently been through a tough break up? Perhaps you have found yourself reflecting on your relationships or you could be struggling to manage a relationship with a family member or friend? I believe our relationships shape us, and by exploring them and their impact, we can understand ourselves on a deeper level. This awareness can empower us to make the changes we want to feel happier in all of our relationships.
I offer face to face and online sessions. Face to face sessions can take place within a confidential and comfortable therapy room or you may wish to have your session outdoors for a “walk and talk” therapy session, which comes with lots of extra benefits of being out in nature.
Please feel free to schedule in a free 15 min consultation via telephone call or drop me an email.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University.
I have worked in mental health for the past seven years, in varying environments from schools to secure settings and currently volunteer for a local mental health charity.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
