About me

Hello, my name is Jodie.

I offer warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth counselling. I am an Integrative Counsellor. This means I can use a range of techniques to help you explore whatever is troubling you. We will work at your own pace in a safe, confidential, and judgement-free environment. Together we can work towards making positive change by building self-awareness, self-esteem, and resilience.

I am passionate about my role as a counsellor and my sessions are very relaxed. I understand that the demands of work and family life may mean that you cannot commit to the same time and day every week. I also offer short and long term counselling in a variety of approaches, including in-person, online, telephone and walk/talk. My aim is to provide an easy and stress-free process which works best for you.

I work with adults, teenagers, and children – adapting each session to that individual, including those with additional needs. I have gained experience working as a counsellor for a number of organisations including:

  •  A charity supporting those who may experience suicidal thoughts.
  •  Outdoor nature-based counselling.
  •  Counselling support for parents of SEN children.
  •  Secondary school counsellor, including pupils attending an autism provision.

I also have experience in, via my background, working with those who have experienced violence and serious assaults – including domestic abuse, both male and female.

I appreciate that this is a huge amount of information, which can feel overwhelming. I offer a free 20 minute introductory session, where we can discuss this process and I can answer any questions or queries you may have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
